Today, August 17th I spent my day learning about Selling computer-designed Objects and technological crafts. I learn about what products I should create and sell. I learn about project planning. It is basically about planning how your product will strive on the market. How much profit the business will make after purchasing.I then went on to learn about 3D printing and how to create using the Tinkercad.
Recruiter- Fundamentals
Today I learn about recruiting and the roles of a recruiter. What I didn’t know is that the recruiter is like a middle person between the person who wants to be hired and the hiring managers. Beforehand I thought the recruiter only dealt with the hiree. `I learned that there are different types of recruiters. Which are internal and external recruiters. I also learn that recruiting may be a very good career choice because you can earn a commission on top of your salary.
Monday the 15th of August, I worked on Creating Mobile Apps. After watching and reading the “overview of working as an app developer. I learn the typical salary for an app developer was fairly high compared to most jobs I learn about through Techie Youth. I learn that prospective employers hire you based on the programmers you have officials for. I was shocked to find out that the IOS (Apple) is only in demand in the United States. However, Android is global. I thought it was quite hilarious that the Apple and Android war is actually universal in the workplace.
Today I decided to work on the quizzes that I didn’t pass. Which includes me reviewing the materials. I studied Business Analyst and Fundraising. I release that I did not notice the styles you must use when sending emails to donors. Going over the materials helped me to grasp that concept that helps me to pass the quiz about fundraising.
Today I spent the day learning about fundraising. It was quite fascinating to learn that fundraising isn’t just about asking someone to donate to your cause. It is more about the approach you take if you are deemed trustworthy to potential donors and how well your charity is set up. I learn about different ways to get donors. I really enjoyed the articles about how to get virtual donors as we are in the new age of technology. I found that there are many different positions that one could have in the fundraising field and make a leaving help out people in need.
Today 10th of August, first I redo a quiz based on copywriting. However, I then spent my day learning about Customer service and correspondence. I learned that being a customer service representative is not always about answering the phone but it has a lot to do with the methods used when dealing with customers. Also, you don't have to be a call rep. You can be text a customer service representative. How to approach a customer problem and how to talk to them because many people do not like to talk to representatives who sound robot-like. I learned about the different companies that are hiring within the customer service job area.
On August 9th, I spent my day learning about copywriting and what the job entails. Initially, I thought it would've been someone taking notes in a meeting like a copywriter machine. However, I learned that copywriters are persons who help write the pieces to promote businesses and websites and much more online. I learn that many copywriters make more money as freelancers rather than having an eight-hour-long day job. I also that you do not need a particular degree for this job but more or so training in writing and how to advertise themselves. I was shocked to find out that copywriters are persuasive writers. Who knows how to make you buy whatever they are selling with their words.
Today I redid my quizzes on Facebook, and Pinterest then I directed my focus to Snapchat which is also a part of social themes. Unlike the other Snapchat, the platform does not use hashtags. Snapchat is mostly based on photos and videos. I was shocked to learn that Snapchat has over 249 billion users because it was founded in 2011 in comparison to the other social media platforms. However, the data states that the users are between the ages of 18-24. I learned that Snapchat has the best privacy settings. It gives us the options as to who can see our stories but also tells us if someone screenshots our post. I will finish the rest of the content.
Today, I spent the day learning about Pinterest. I realize that people make money from being expertise in creating a Pinterest page. I've come to realize how important hashtags are in the social media world. while Pinterest is a social media site. I initially thought that you can get money for selling and buying products on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I happy to learn that Pinterest is also like the other mainstream social media.
Today I spent the day learning about social themes. I learned that you can profit from Twitter with quite some followers and tweets. I learned about you can charge companies for advertising their products. I learn that most people react to gifs and funny text and that's a way to gain followers also it's best to have a theme to attract followers and companies.
Today I focused on social themes but in particular, Wechat and Facebook. I learned the reason behind our past president's anger towards prohibiting TikTok and WeChat. Regards the apps are owned and managed by a foreign country and their rules and regulation apply to the app use. I learned that you can sell your Facebook group and you charge the group member a subscription fee.
Today, I focused on redoing my virtual assistant portfolio as well as watching a 2 hours video about Word press and its functions. Although Wix was easy used. I do feel like after watching the beginner tutorial from WordPress it would've been the better site to create my portfolio. However, I learned about the importance of a domain and how it is needed for an online website.
Today, I spent most of my time learning about how to create an online portfolio and creating one. I learned about how much an online portfolio is like a cover letter and resume of yourself. You are basically selling yourself as a business online. I then directed my attention to virtual assistants and how much you can make as a new virtual assistant. The portfolio was created as a way to advertise my experience to be a better candidate for the role of a virtual assistant. I will continue the rest next week.
Today I spent my time on a given assignment about “Improving your quality of life” Wrote about areas in my life that I will improve based on the skills I learned from the program. I also watched the video by GaryVee, “The Ultimate Advice for Every 20 old”, It was very inspiring to hear an old person talk about life as such because when we hit early adulthood we get scared and think that we are behind in life. I then redo some of my quizzes.
Today, I learned about Entity-relationship modeling, which is a graphical portrayal that portrays connections among individuals, objects, spots, ideas, or occasions inside a data innovation. I also learned about data types and the different types. He talked about joins and the different tables. It was quite fascinating to hear about the tables but with regular language. He talked about the parents and children table. He was using modern language to connect us with this material.
Today I spent the day learning more about how to design and plan a database for beginners. He introduced SQL and how to write codes. He then went on about database terms and how to use them. He also mentioned that we have to use unique codes and wording. Using the same codes and words can cause an error in your database. I got to learn about coding relationships and different types of relationships. I also learned about Superkeys and candidate keys and their differences.
Today the 22nd of I spent my day learning about how to use the SQL (Structured Query Language. I learned how to write in codes and how to correct my errors. I learned that words are entered into the system in a particular way or I will receive an error. I learned that I can use the system for my grocery list and a company can also use it to log their employees and their time or work done. I watched the piece “ database design course - learn how to design and plan a database for beginners. I learned how to create a database and how to input it into a database management system.
On July 20th, I learned about a business analyst and how to become one. I enjoyed the youtube videos with Karaleise about “ How to break into business analyst with no experience”. She gives me the feeling of looking into becoming a business analyst. I learn that there are two types of business analysts. One who works for the company (internal) and the other who comes and fixes the company problem (external). A business analyst's starting pay was very high vs a data analyst's.
Today July 21st, I spent the day learning about a data analyst and what it takes to become one. I learned that there are some close similarities to a business analyst but a lot of differences. Although the pay rate of a data analyst is quite small compare to a business analyst I believe that it is a good job if you want to have experience before becoming a data scientist. I learned about tools and network that data analyst uses on a day-to-day basis.
On July 5th, my first working day at Techie Youth, I first learned about what Techie youth stands for and the goal behind it. I spent some time learning about how much time and effort you have put into video editing. I also learned as a freelance video editor you have more flexibility when pay rates are not stable. I learned that as a video editor you have to let your client make their input on your edits even though you might have to change. You want to make your client happy.
On July 6th, I learned about time management and how we can improve our lives just by managing our time efficiently. I learned that there are apps created to help us manage time. I was thought how to use a Canva personal planner. I was introduced to Parkinson's Law. I also learned that multitasking is more stressful than it seems and it shouldn't be practiced.
On July 7th, I learned about stress management and how to cope with stressful situations. I also learned the difference between a role model and a mentor. while the mentor would have a professional relationship with you. A role model may be someone who you look up to but they do not know you personally or at all. I learned the proper way to converse with a mentor via email and how to identify good qualities in a person who you would like to be your mentor.
On July 8th, I was taught about business models and how to develop a business, and what not to do when starting and operating one. I learned that it is important that you research the business that you are interested in because you might fail. I l learned that it is important that you learn early that you can fail but you must have a plan to save your business or move on to a better plan.
On July 11th, I continued on July 8th about business and entrepreneurship. I learned that you can get sued easily because of your business name and you should always check local and state registries. I discovered that it is a must to have a memorable logo and mission statement when constructing a business branding matters because that is what draws customers to you.
On July 12th, I learned how to create my log and also what I should or should not do when creating a logo. I moved on to how to get money for your new startup company and what to look out for when getting investors. I learned how to charm investors and how not to get rejected.
On July 13th, I learned how to make a Linkedin profile and how to capture the eyes of potential employers. I learned how to improve my resume and how to market myself professionally.
Today, I learned about how to become a tutor and what qualifications I need to have. I got to see the different pay rates around the country. I got to learn how to use zoom. Throughout the Pandemic, I saw many struggling with how to use the zoom the correct way. I learned how to change my background. I was surprised as to how much advertisement we watched throughout the day on average at 4000 plus a day.
Today, the assignment was based on social media accounts. I learned that jobs usually look at all prospective employees' social media accounts. I learned that 79 percent of applicants did not get the job due to their behavior on social media. As someone in the academic field, it was not a shocker that Harvard unenrolled those students for being rude and disrespectful as their college is highly prestigious. What we do on social media can later affect us in our professional life. I learned that social media can be very challenging to one's mental health.
Today at work, I learned how to become a virtual assistant and what the job entails. I got to see what basically a day in a virtual assistant is and what qualities one must have to be a virtual assistant. I also found that a virtual assistant must have characteristics such as patience and politeness. I really enjoyed the section about hotel bookings and what you should or should not do when using an app agency site. I learned how to do calendar management in Google and even how to convert from another calendar app . I love the video about office skills and what you should say as someone who works in an office on the phone. Many professionals do not have phone etiquette.
Today, I learned about checking accounts and how to create them. You will need a social security number. I thought it was optional, however, I am happy that I can share with others that a social security number is required. I also learned how to deposit checks off and online as well. It is a must that you have to sign the endorsement at the back of the check for it to be accepted. Chime is an online banking system and has no fee. I would recommend this account to young adults. After reading and watching the youtube videos, if I were to start a business with the payment system I would choose to use Square. Square, has its digital system, and the fees are not as expensive. The customer and I would have an easy transaction. Linking the Square account to my account is relatively easy according to the steps.
