Today I was able to learn more about business partners and how to choose the right one for you. I think this was helpful considering it gave me a lot to consider for the aspect of the Unit Assignment that discusses picking a co founder and funding (funders). I was also able to learn more about how to influence people. Although I don't want to go into business when I get older, that information seemed relevant to me because I want to be a lawyer when I get older. Persuasion is a large part of the job.
Today I was finally able to finish all the videos and articles for entrepreneurship. The video that stood out most to me was about hiring and firing people. This process seems so harsh, but it does make sense that an employer, especially for a small business, would need have employees that put their full effort into the work. I was able to start brainstorming business ideas for my own executive summary that I will be working on tomorrow. So far, I think I want to build an app that may use the subscription profit model, but I still need to take the time to figure out all the specific for the best executive summary I can make.
Today a lot of what I read about and watched had to do with different types of business structures. I also read a lot about competition between businesses and how businesses that are starting out should observe the market to understand what to do. As someone who wants to be a lawyer, I found the legal aspects of what I learned today to be interesting. It was cool to see how businesses have to be registered and the different pros and cons to the different business types.
Today I watched many videos and read articles on profit models and building a successful business. Although I do not plan on being a business owner in the future, I found the information to be very interesting. I was particularly interested in how many different profit and revenue models there are. It wasn't until the videos pointed it out that I noticed how many different models I interact with daily. For example, different streaming services vs. electricity and phone bills.
Today, a lot of my content focused on self-improvement and gaining leadership skills. For example, my unit assignment was to complete a list of goals for self-improvement in many aspects of life like time management and financials. This was very reflective for me. In addition, I watched many videos on developing leadership skills. A common thread was seeing that leaders understand the group they are working with/leading and have a goal of helping those people. I loved that message.
Today my education at techie youth expanded on building a business, only with an emphasis on copyright and cryptocurrency. I want to be a lawyer when I get older, so I found all the information about copyright very interesting. Copyright law has always interested me and today reminded me of that. I found it very interesting how expensive domain names are. I really was not expecting that. The information about cryptocurrency was slightly difficult to understand but I understand how important that is for a business owner to know.
Today on the Techie Youth platform, I read many articles and watched some videos on creating a business. Specifically, a lot of the material focused on online platforms for businesses and how a business is structured. It was cool to learn information about how advertisements and various forms of interactions with advertisements track interest on certain products for certain businesses. I am not someone who is particularly interested in starting my own business, but I can see how the information could be very useful to someone who is.
Today at Techie youth I was able to read a lot and watch many videos on writing and publishing. I absolutely love writing but have only really had the chance to write in an academic setting. It was really interesting being able to see how different fiction writers spoke about their work. In addition, I am an avid reader, so it was very intriguing reading up on different forms of publishing and this aspect of books that I hadn't previously taken the time to learn about. The self-publishing information especially caught my eye as I've read some self-published books but never knew what the process was like.
Today, what my education at Techie Youth focused on was various pieces of advice mainly centering around planning my time effectively, professionalism, and finding a mentor. Today really reinforced in me how important obtaining a planner is and making notes not only about what i need for the day, but also taking into consideration weekly, monthly, and long terms goals and plans. I also really loved how taking time to do things I enjoy such as going out with friends was brough up. As for mentorship, the information provided about the process of obtaining a mentor was incredibly helpful, and I will most definitely turn back to it in the start of college when I am searching for mentorship advice.
Today, the main thing my education at techie youth focused on was creating a budget, understanding job payment, and having savings. As a student entering college in a couple of weeks, this information was incredibly important and helpful for me. I now understand how I should effectively split up my earnings from work to ensure I have enough money for both necessary and non-essential expenses. Although some of the information regarding taxes was difficult to understand, I'm glad I took the time to read about it and hope it will help me in the future when taxes becomes more relevant to my life.
