Working remotely is more than just logging into your job and then doing whatever you please. Just like an in person career online careers require attention and respect. One must consider things like communication, teamwork and productivity, meetings and scheduling, as well as conflict avoidance. Today I began to learn how to manage having a remote job once you’ve passed the interview process and are hired. Some of the most important things TechieYouth has taught me so far in this course is onboarding and how it helps both the new hire and the company. According to an article by Wilson HCG that TechieYouth provided “onboarding is the action of integrating new hires into an organization”. This entails the company’s HR team to be “a cross-functional liaison that helps new hires understand timelines and expectations, before and after the start date, while ensuring successful integration.” Onboarding is a great way to ease new employees to the companies typical ambiance and expectations in order ensure a good foundation. Something else that TechieYouth noted as important is to recognize the need and use for collaboration with coworkers as much as one would in-person. Being remote can make certain tasks more difficult and working together can get you a long way in progress of both the amount done and your relationship with your coworkers .
Over the past couple of days I have had the opportunity to learn how to properly go through the process of apply for and getting a remote job. Another useful tip provided by Techie Youth articles to aid in acing an online interview is maintaining a professional appearance especially for interviews that require your physical presence to be seen such as on Zoom. Just because it is an online job doesn’t mean you may lack professionalism.

Usually when you hear customer service you think of a restaurant, clothing store, of phone line to call when you need help with a product but it’s so much more. Today with TechieYouth I learned how to make an income via customer service in online chats and how to make an income via technical writing. Customer Service online is very helpful for those who may not have someone or somewhere accesible to them for help and that is why ensuring a pleasant experience when they seek for help is important.
Today I finished reviewing Guesting Blogging and moved onto discovering SEO back linking. Prior to this course I never encountered or knew about, let alone understood what a backlink is and how to use it, but TechieYouth made learning about it a breeze! Over todays work day with Techie Youth I learn that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and back links are a given link from one website to another website. Back linking is important for online business to gain organic traffic on their websites, blogs, video channels, etc. and it is done through the use of keywords. When you look up something on a search engine like Google it uses keywords your question or statement to find what you are looking for from most to least relevant. Creating back links with accurate and informative keywords can not only increase traffic but also increase awareness and interaction from/with your target audience. You can even use back linking for a tangible product that you sell in store and online like many online fast-fashion shops such as FashionNova or American Eagle.
Today with TechieYouth I learned about blogging, what it is, how to do it, and how it can make a profit. Through videos, articles, and blogs provided to me by TechieYouth I learned how to differentiate blogs from a website or websites that contain a blog as well as how to use blogging to make money. Blogging is actually what I’m doing right now as I write this. As a participant for TechieYouths program with SYEP I summarize in a blogpost what learn after every day working with TechieYouth. This can be considered one form or multiple forms of blogging. It can be considered educational as I allow those who have not participated in this program to learn the variety of learning and working opportunities this program presents. But this type blog can also be considered a personal journal because it is also my personal experience with the program and the courses I have chosen to pursue, or you can see it as both. However you can make an income blogging in many ways, these are just two that happen to be demonstrated by my daily reports. As the createandgo blog introduced to me by TechieYouth states, blogging is very simple and you make it whatever you want it to be “introspective, fun, exciting, mind-numbing, emotional, relaxed,” informative, promotional, or all of the above. A blog is written content often based on trying to inform or spread experiences because it is literally just a web or internet log (web + log = blog). Blogs can range from health and fitness to travel and even real estate and it is completely up to you how often you decide to write, what you write about, and what brands to promote if you’d like to do so. Like the CreateAndGo Blog you can blog to be informative and aid others in learning something new while also selling products to allow yourself a full time income. Or you can branch out, blog about your passions and experiences because those who share those same passions are likely to reach your blog. Your audience is your income so selling digital products, having affiliate links, or even creating and charging for blog membership levels can aid you in truly making blogging a part of your income that you enjoy working for!
Today with Techie Youth I reviewed and learned about copywriting. Copywriting is writing in a persuasive manner while also keeping it, as some might say, short and sweet. Copywriting is typically used for raising brand awareness for example advertisement. Being a copywriter gives you the opportunity to help companies name become known like entrepreneurs and visionaries share trying to their story, business or brand online. A copywriters ads are typically distributed using web marketing practices like social media to post content like said ads. This helps your clients and you grow as they attract business, in turn attracting business to you from other companies seeking the same or similar goal in advertising, mass emails, etc. After going over what copywriting entails it’s clear to see why being persuasive and concise is important for a copywriter, especially in a world with ads everywhere already.

You can also find information on the importance of finding a literary agent if your goal is to be published so that someone can represent you and your writing to large publishing companies. This is important because there are publishers that will only accept submissions via a literary agent. Writing can book can be profitable but you must also keep in mind those who aid you in becoming successful and paying them for their contribution to your job. Even if you chose to do self publishing there are financial aspects to keep in mind. Not hiring a literary agent would cause you to need support from else where. TechieYouth recommends doing so by hiring a launch team, book editor, ghost writer, and assistant to assure you put the best version of your work out there. Traditional publishing methods have an average of 10-12% monetization where self publishing methods procures 40-60% monetization. After learning about digital goods and deciding that selling digital goods might not be the online market for me I began to learn about the “writing unit” and how to monetize your experiences by sharing them with the world. I continued today and in just a few hours I learned a lot, almost completed the course, even peeked into Authoring books to learn about how they might connect. Monetizing your writing can be done in many forms including things like having your article featured in magazines or journals, writing, getting published/self-publishing, and selling books, or by blogging and writing for your own website about something you’re passionate for like traveling. Travel bloggers are a popular community for those trying learn about different place for visiting purposes or educational purposes. You can even do guest blogging on someone else’s blog or ghost wrote for profit. Monetizing your money can be profitable in many ways and just about anyone can do it! However, it is still a job so you must keep in mind necessities for work like this such as; being reliable, responsible, and communicative, especially if you have a team or manger. Deadlines are important and making sure your writing is grammatically correct and legible is a must in order to have your audience understand. I’ve learned so much about writing online for profit and would do it myself for travel as well. It is something I’ve always enjoyed and talk about often so why not out my words on paper (or at least it’s digital equivalent) to make a profit and provide others the opportunity to understand the experiences available to them throughout the globe!

I learned that digital goods are products that can be sold online but aren’t physical. Example include online services, courses, ebooks, digital art, videos. An example that some college students who are big on organization might recognize are online customized or customizable yearly calendar to keep track of classes, assignments, exams, personal matters, etc. I myself have purchased a digital calendar to aid me in organizing school life with my personal and/or work life from a YouTuber who’s niche is school organization. I found it interesting the variety of things can be sold online and be considered a digital good that I had not considered before. However, I also learned that the definition and limits for the term digital goods varies from place to place. I think selling digital goods would be a great way for someone artistic to make money online. People can create music, videos, fonts for banners..posters..etc., organizational products like calendars or financial trackers, and even educational tutorials or courses that you can be given a online certification or license for! Although I enjoyed learning a bit about digital goods, what they are, and how people can make an income from them, I also found that it did not interest me personally. I spent some time trying to think what I would do as I read the Shopify blog post that was linked via Techie Youth, but I could not really find or think of anything I thought I would enjoy or do well in. I appreciate the opportunity Techie Youth has provided me to learn what I like or do not like and what may or may not be useful in creating an income for myself or simply sparking an interest in a topic that can create a wonderful lifestyle if given the proper tools to build, something Techie Youth seems to try to assure. Instagram in particular is the form I reviewed today through videos and articles provided to me by Techie Youth. I was aware that your user base as someone who relies on social media is important and of course it is expected to not only have a large number of followers but an interactive majority as well. However, TechieYouth brought to my attention that “Reaching 10,000 followers is generally considered the minimum quantity of followers to attain before expecting monetization”. This basically means that to get paid for your niche on Instagram you are expected to have a minimum of 10,000 followers in order to make money from your ads which can be with just about any company that you support and is willing to work with you. The more interactive your consumer base, or followers, are the more your net income should be, especially if you’re dealing with popular brands. Many influencers do this through clothing brands as they blog their fashion inspiration, their outfits, and their lifestyle. A fashion niche is a popular topic among the Instagram community as people can post pictures and videos permanently or temporarily through stories, reels, or posting to your feed. Followers can like comment and share to any of the 3, however you also have the option to add features to your stories that increase interaction for your Instagram wether it’s an ad, affiliate link, or just a cute OutfitOfTheDay (where you can link each item, bonus if it’s an affiliate link), in turn supporting your likelihood to making more money with multiple companies. I only worked a short period of time today but still managed to learn about how social niche pages can be profitable. It is not an easy job as the market is very competitive but that doesn’t mean it is impossible, technically anyone with a camera and internet access can do it. You can think of it similar to a start up business that needs advertisement to grow its consumer base. You and your page are the start up business and consumers are your followers. It’s not enough to have followers though, many times accounts are filled with bots or inactive users. Techie Youth allows you to learn how to prevent your page from being filled with these inactive followers and help you grow and reach an audience that is interactive with you. A couple of the ways mentioned are through the use of reels or stories with interactive features like questions, polls, or Q&As. Some of the most common niches that a high popularity include Health & beauty, Travel, Fitness, Cooking, and Fashion. I still have a lot to learn about how social media can be profitable if down right and I look forward to gaining this knowledge through Techie Youth!!
Over todays work hours I was taught the difference between a role model and a mentor. Techie Youths articles, videos, guides, and recommendations also made me realize how important it is to have a good role model and how it can be beneficial to your success to find a mentor who can aid and guide you in accomplishing your career goals. Role models are often looked up to and copied by fans or admirers that, more often than not, do not get advice from said role model. Role models are people who’s moral values and beliefs you respect as well as someone who’s accomplishments inspire you, however, they also tend to be famous and difficult to contact. Examples include but are not limited to actors, singers, politicians, scientists, etc. Mentors on the other hand develop a relationship with their mentee and invest time into helping them regardless of their popularity amongst the public. It is possible for someone to be both your role model and mentor but it is not likely simply because role models are often people who are more out of close reach than an individuals close to you. Mentors are individuals, usually a professional in a whatever field your are seeking to be mentored in, who have a personal relationship with their mentees allowing them to effectively guide and coach their mentee.
During todays work hours I explored the financial awareness and management videos, articles, and tasks. Doing so helped teach me ways to not only save money but also invest it. You can easily save by taking a certain amount out of every pay check or by choosing to make coffee at home instead of buying a $6 coffee every morning. However investing can also go a long way without the need to do too much math, which is something that stopped me as math is not my strongest subject. TechieYouth taught me ways in which I can invest not only my money but my time as well. One video gave the example of cleaning the house. If it takes you a whole day to clean it is possible to make the investment of hiring a cleaning person for a few hours so that you may spend that day working since time = money. If you can pay someone to clean and you use that time to instead work you may be able to not only make money but make a profit because you’ve given yourself more time to make money while still accomplishing important tasks like being sanitary in your own home. This analogy really helped me understand how to apply this concept into parts of my daily life. Another concept I found useful is budgeting tips and knowing the difference between luxury vs necessity. We all need food, water, shelter, and clothes but that does not been we need food from 5 star restaurants every meal and only designer clothes, something many struggle to truly grasp as they overspend. Budgeting allows you to not only visualize what is actually a necessity and aid in more accurately tracking your expenses but it also allows you to make better financial decisions in terms of saving, investments, and reassuring that bills/utilities are paid on time.
