Learning about web development has been interesting because I have learned how the apps that I use everyday are created. I would like to create an app dedicated for disabled folks specifically, so this has been very helpful to learn about!
Today, I worked on drafting my product that I will present in my assignment. I would like to draft a product that will help disabled people specifically, and it’s something that I am very passionate about. I am still in the brain storming process but I am excited to see how it turns out
I aspire to be a writer and since I am going through the product management section, I thought it would be a good idea to review how to publish my own e-books because this is a product of mine that I would like to release to the public in the future. I have always dreamt of publishing my own book one day and so I am learning the tools that I need in order to do so!
Today, I spent some time reviewing the product management section in order to prepare myself to start working on my assignment tomorrow. I already have an idea as to what product I'd like to create. I also went over a new section, Quality Assurance, as it may be the next section I begin to work on.
Today, I learned how important it is to obtain customer feedback as a product manager. It is very important to get the opinions of those who are trying the product that you want to launch out into the public. This is important because if a product is not liked by many people, then it gives the product manager a chance to tweak it and make it better.
I am learning about product management and what it means to be a product manager. Learning about the day-to-day of a product manager was very interesting and I am grateful for this section because it is opening my eyes to professions that I had no idea existed. The cool thing about this job is that we see it in our day to day lives!! We each use a new product in our everyday lives and little do we know the process to get that product out and launched into the market. That is where product managers come into the picture and I think it's very cool. I am not a very business oriented person, but its always cool to learn the tools needed to get a potential product out there. I already have a few ideas of what I can create for my assignment!
Today, I made my very own website! I made a website dedicated to my blog and I was able to include techie youth in it. I think this website will help me in the future in case I want promote an e-book or just my very own pieces. I think this was very fun to do, and I am happy that I gained the skills of how to do this!
Today, I took some time to edit my assignments that needed revision. I also took some time to go through some of my quizzes where I did not do very well on. I realize that I could do better on them and I am going to continue to take more time out of the day to go back and review!
I also took some time today to learn about niche websites. While I am still a little fuzzy on the topic, to my understanding, niche websites are pages in which the creator focuses on specific topics and interests. For example, I would consider my blog to be a niche website (though I may be wrong), because I focus on disability rights and mental health. However, it could be more specific than that. I learned about domain names and also what the pros and cons are to having a niche informational website. I think it will be interesting to continue learning about this and maybe I can use the information to create a more niche website for my blog.
Today, I learned quite a bit about the differences between talent acquisition and recruitment. I learned about how talent acquisition is more about the behind-the-scenes and strategies of recruitment, whereas recruitment is the act of obtaining potential candidates and analyzing them by their skills and what they can bring to the company.
I also learned about what I should be providing as a candidate. I learned what a good resume looks like and how I can make myself stand out during interviews, as well as what goes into a cover letter.
Today, I learned a lot about what a recruiter does. I have a friend who is currently in this position and it has always caught my eye! I believe that this would be a great position, especially since I can do it from the comfort of my home. I am looking forward to completing my assignment and getting to know what recruiters look for.
To be quite honest, since I finished the writing unit, it has been hard to find a section that I am 100% interested in until I found the quality assurance section. This is something that I have never learned about until today. I wasn't sure what it was, and today I learned a lot about software testing. I am not a super techie person, but learning about the phases of STLC was very interesting.
Today, I learned how to become a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants can complete a variety of tasks, such as bookkeeping & a bunch of other administrative work. This is a job that can be done from home (hence, why it’s virtual) and it can be very fulfilling. I saved one of the websites hiring VA’s because it’s something I could see myself doing during the semester.
Today, I learned a lot about what goes into web development. Learning about this is especially interesting because it showed me the behind the scenes of what I use everyday, which is the internet. Learning about HTMLs, JavaScript, etc is very interesting and it will be cool to continue learning from this section.
Today, I learned how I can sell art online. Though I am not very artistic, it was interesting to learn about the various ways that people sell their creations online and find a income from that. Watching the various videos showed me that there are many ways that one can make money from the comfort of their home!
Today, I learned quite a lot about what services I can provide to someone else. Online-tutoring would be a great and easy side hustle for me as a college student, as I can do it via Zoom. It could also be a great way for me to bump up my resume and gain experience!
As a writer, it is very enlightening and motivating to learn about the various jobs I can get from the comfort of my home. I was especially interested in learning about transcription and it's something I did not know about before. I really enjoy writing and this could be a great way for me to make some money once I begin my fall semester of college. I also enjoyed learning about customer service jobs but as a live agent because speaking on the phone tends to make me anxious. Overall, the writing unit of this program was especially interesting to me since I consider myself a writer.
Today, I learned quite a bit about writing and how one can dive into the world of publishing. I learned a lot about how one can self-publish, copywriting and blogging. As someone who has their own blog, all of this information was very useful for me and I learned about how I can make money from blogging! I also learned about the different tools I can use to focus more, such as the Self-Control app mentioned in one of the Copywriting videos. Finally, I learned how copywriting is different than copyrighting, and how it is way more different than content writing.
Today, I reviewed in depth what it means to fundraise and how I can play my part in this. I learned about the various ways one can fundraise and how it can easily be done from my home. For example, I am very passionate about disability rights and raising awareness for my disabled community. I can easily make a campaign revolved around this and I can bring awareness to my disability and others. I could do this by making instagram posts with hashtags so others can put their thoughts, too. To solidify it, I can make an Instagram live with guest speakers. If this takes of, then I can find other ways to fundraise for those who are disabled and in need.
Today, I learned a lot about fundraising and the different methods of it. I learned that I can start my own fundraising campaign on the internet, and use social media to promote it. I have always known about crowd-funding as I always help people do it on Twitter. However, today I learned about how I could make my own campaign and how I can get others into it, as well. I also learned how donors work and how to network with them on sites like linked-in.
Today, I learned a lot about what goes into video editing. I learned about the various apps one can use to edit, and also how free-lancing works. Though it's not something I see myself doing, it is very interesting to see what goes into all of the YouTube videos that I watch.
Today, I learned a lot about how to improve my quality of life. One of the most important take aways is how to remove stress and be happy. As someone with anxiety, it is very hard for me to relax. I tend to overthink everything and freak out over the smallest things, and I really would like to set a goal to be more calm and collected. Therapy and practicing my own self-care will allow me to do this.
Today, I learned all of the benefits that come with working from home and also that there are many careers I can attain that also give me the privilege of traveling full time! Remote work has come to stay and it has proven to us that it can increase our quality of life. In one of the articles, it mentions how the main source of stress for employees is commuting from work to home and vice versa. Instead of being stressed about commuting, we can now wake up and work from the comfort of our homes, thanks to remote work. We can avoid the hassle of going back and forth and worrying about trains, traffic etc. Another benefit of working from home is the fact that we can travel and earn money while doing so! Digital nomads caught my attention and I learned about the "transcribing" profession, which is an easy way to make money that I did not know about before.
