My reflection on the Immediate Income Unit

Today I finished the Immediate Income unit. An exciting job that I learned about today is Mock Juror. I never knew a job like this existed. A mock juror is a person who assists lawyers by reviewing their legal cases and giving opinions. A mock juror can earn up to $60 per case, which is a lot considering this job does not require any skills or experience. Translating is also a great way of making money online. I find TED translator’s job highly fascinating as they get to work with a global community of volunteers to make extraordinary ideas accessible. I learned about ProZ.com, a large site with projects including freelance, translation, and subtitles. I also learned that only being good at typing can get me the opportunity to earn money online. Although I need to have the curiosity to learn, strong listening skills, complete work promptly, language proficiency, and a firm grasp of grammar to get a transcription job. I also liked the portion about Providing short-term services utilizing your current skills. I learned about websites like Fiverr, Upwork, PeoplePerHour and TakeLessons where firms and individuals list jobs they want to outsource and list talents/functions that they can perform for a fee. Even if a person doesn’t have any skill, he/she will likely find a job on these websites! I resonated with the PeoplePerHour website where I can showcase my skills and experience to get matched with a suitable job.

My reflection on Immediate Income Unit

Today I started the Immediate Income Unit. Today I learned that if we have internet access, earning money can be as easy as a piece of cake. Although Some of these opportunities require specific qualifications such as physical location or certain skills. Yet there is a way for everyone to make money online. People can get paid for taking surveys online which requires barely need the participant to have any sort of qualification. I learned that Swagbucks is among the most-popular platform to find such opportunities. Using this website, people can make money from $0.40 to $2.00 USD per survey. I also learned about SurveySavvy, which is another wonderful website that assesses information from the members’ profile and assigns them to various demographics. I also learned about human power mechanical work today. In the field of Human-powered mechanical micro-gig work, Amazon Mechanical Turk and ClickWorker are prominent. They provide people with ways to earn money immediately doing random online-tasks. I also learned about how to do actual MTurk "HIT" and what the experience of working as an MTurk'er is like by watching the YouTube videos. Proofreading is another easy way of making money online as long as the individual has good literary skills. Since many writers need someone to help them to correct grammar and improve the readability of their content, people with strong literary skills and like to read. I also found the portion about reviewing music and creating greeting cards creative and fascinating. As I consider myself a creative person, I could resonate with these work. I look forward to learning more on this tomorrow.

My reflection on Quality Assurance

Today I continued the same unit. I gained deep knowledge of Functional testing, Selenium, Getting QA Work and QA Communities today. I learned some of the best practices of security learning today. I learned that access security should be the first priority to ensure your business's and your customer's safety. Testing the protection of data is another necessary step that depends on data visibility and usability and data storage. I also learned about an interesting tester called the professor tester that can test the database for all kinds of critical data such as user accounts, passwords, billing and others. I also learned about some web security vulnerabilities, such as Injection flaws, which allow the attacker to inject commands to hijack clients’ browsers, resulting in data loss. I also learned about QA testers. Quality assurance (QA) testers are critical in delivering customers high-quality, perfectly-functioning software and web applications. Some resume advice for QA testers I studied today are that If you’ve had jobs outside of the QA field, you should list tasks and skills in a way that demonstrates how they also apply to QA. Also, If you’ve volunteered, you should list any relevant activities, even if they’re informal. Indeed has a lot of job opportunities in this field.I look forward to learning about this unit tomorrow!

My reflection on Quality Assurance

Today I started the Quality Assurance unit. This unit thoroughly discusses how to improve the quality of any product. The significance of quality assurance is tremendous in business. I learned that quality assurance ensures consistent results. With services and products, consistency is very important. Even if a business doesn't produce “the best” offerings in the marketplace, being consistent with its standards makes a huge difference. It is an informative unit as I am learning about a field I barely knew of before. It helps ensure that organizations create and ship products that are clear of defects and meet the needs and expectations of customers. High-quality products result in satisfied customers, which can result in customer loyalty, repeat purchases, upsell, and advocacy. I also learned that many professional QA testers utilize the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) to improve the results of their QA efforts. I learned about different types of testing such as smoke testing and sanity testing. Smoke Testing is done to make sure if the build we received from the development team is testable or not while Sanity Testing is done during the release phase to check for the main functionalities of the application without going deeper. It is also called as a subset of Regression testing. It is done at the “release level”. I also learned about Black Box Testing, a software testing method in which the internal structure of the item being tested is not known to the tester. Only the external design and structure are tested. White Box Testing is another way of testing the software in which the tester has knowledge about the internal structure or the code or the program of the software. While implementation of code is not needed for black box testing, code implementation is necessary for white box testing. I look forward to learning more about this unit tomorrow.

My reflection on wrapping up the Selling Digital Goods unit

Today I finished the Selling Digital Goods unit and finished the assignment. I submitted my work to creativemarket.com. There is no way for me to share an URL on where I submitted I work as it doesn't show or send me any confirmation email after uploading it. So I shared the URL of a google doc where I attached the work I submitted to the creativemarket.com website. KIndly let me know if there is anything I should do otherwise. Below is a link of what the website showed after I submitted my work.

My reflection on Selling Digital Goods

Today, I continued the Selling Digital Goods unit. I find this unit informative. I gained knowledge on what digital goods are by reading the article “What is Digital Good” by Annie. I learned that any downloadable item, E-book, cloud base software, and as-a-service products are examples of digital goods. I learned about how digital assets can be created. Such as people who enjoy writing can write and share it online through websites like Wattpad. People can also have webinars and host meeting to conduct internal training, capture leads, and so on. Marketers from industries across the board use this platform. I also learned about strategies to host a successful webinar in an article. I also learned about subscription models. I learned that a subscription business model is a business model that charges customers a recurring fee — typically monthly or yearly — to access a product or service. So a subscription revenue allows the customer to pay as long as they continually see the value a company provides for them These services are derivatives of businesses. I look forward to learning more about this unit tomorrow.

My reflection on Continuing the Providing Services Unit

Today I created a website to finish the assignment on Providing Services. It was an exciting experience. My website is on graphic services. It took a lot of my time today. Then I also started Selling Digital Goods. I learned that “Digital good” is modern while “Good” makes you think of old-fashioned trade. I also learned that the definition of “digital product” is elastic. Any place you go in the world and within the 50 states of the US, will have its version of the definition, making small additions or omissions in what’s considered a digital good. It has also been advised to use an app such as Shopify to make purchases easy for customers.

I look forward to learning more about this unit tomorrow!

My reflection on Continuing the Providing Services Unit

I continued the same unit today. It was interesting to learn about online modeling as I did not know it was even possible to do online modeling. I learned that some modeling work could be performed remotely by shooting your photos and video, although it is more commonly an in-person role. But to attract recruiters, it is necessary that the model establishes a web presence and presents an unusual or exquisite appearance. It was also interesting to learn that models who catwalk are generally at least 5’8″ and, as we all know, relatively thin with very few curves. While commercial models can be a little shorter, their body types can be more diverse. And the most glamorous models are swimsuit/lingerie models (for ex: the models of Victoria’s Secret); they often have larger chests with smaller waists. Through completing the web design and graphic design section, I also learned about the day in the life of a graphic designer, which I found reasonably convenient and fascinating. Like Maurice Woods, a graphic designer and founder of the Inneract Project, I have also liked drawing and painting since my childhood. I did an internship last year in graphic designing and found it pretty fun. So I could relate with Maurice in the video and be glad to see he pursued his passion. I also learned about color in making and designing websites. Because a brand’s success can easily depend on the color palette, we choose. It can be the most powerful tool to gain a reaction from your targeted audience as it stirs visitors’ emotions. Color also helps us to process and store images more efficiently than colorless (black and white) images, this can help increase brand recognition and help prompt visitors to your site to take action. I also learned about the Resources where we can find clients to hire you for services and also places where we can get paid to share our knowledge, wisdom, or expertise. I also started the unit assignment today and look forward to finishing it tomorrow.

My reflection on Continuing the Providing Services Unit

I continued the same unit today and learned a lot of new stuff. One of the topics that I learned about excited today is online ad campaigns and management. Because this is a growing field as any savvy marketer in today's high-stakes business world harnesses the power of the internet to effectively and efficiently reach their target audience daily. Online ad campaigns increase a business's cost efficiency, performance, and global reach. Learning how to create and manage Facebook ad campaigns was also exciting. It is a way to expand brand awareness. Although I do not like it when an ad pops up when I am scrolling on Facebook, today I learned how it could be effective for brands as they can use it to get people off of Facebook and on your website. I also learned about transcription, voice acting, artistry, selling stock photographs, video, and audio, and took some quizzes. I found the concept of voice acting interesting. I learned that voice actors commit themselves to understanding the content in a script so they can speak about it from an informed place. For instance, voicing an e-learning module about mechanical presses in the morning and recording a voice-over for an online recipe video in the afternoon. In addition, I learned that artists see their art in many different ways. They can create artwork for themselves and sell it online or work by commissions which private individuals may commission businesses or organizations. It was informative to learn about different job fields today!

Reflection on Providing Services

Today I finished my website and the assignment for the Virtual Assistant unit. I uploaded my audio as suggested before and reuploaded the link for my website. Then I continued to go through the Providing Services Unit. The section about paid research jobs was informative. It was fun to learn that people get paid for participating in social and scientific experiments. Beginners can expect to get about $10 per hour for these jobs, and the wage will increase as they gain experience. I also learned about resources like Prolific, Respondent, and Slicethepie that pay people to give feedback. Writing press releases are also an excellent way of making money in this field. The purpose of a press release is to get attention, make news, and generate publicity. Most importantly, press releases effectively create interest in any corporate news factually and efficiently. Therefore, it requires extra effort, the work needs to be perfect and detailed. I also learned about Online ad Campaign Management and Transcript Section today. I look forward to wrapping up this unit and doing the assignment next week!

Reflection on Providing Services

Today I finished uploading the report to a public forum (the assignment for Analyst), submitted the link to the Teachie Youth website, and started the Providing Services Unit, which focuses on teaching youth about service-oriented skills and consists of services that people can charge for. Learning about this unit was overall okay. However, the data entry and digital marketing sections excited me. I find the digital marketing job lucrative as people can make a six-figure salary at home if they have the necessary skills. Writing and editing are a digital marketer's most important skill sets. Almost all jobs in this field include writing and editing. Therefore learning and becoming proficient with writing and editing will get you far in your digital marketing career. Another important skill in digital marketing is design skills because so much of digital marketing today is driven by visuals. A person can create social media content, digital medial campaigns, banner ads, email banners or social media images in Photoshop, etc. from my personal experience, I think Canva is a good platform in digital marketing. I also learned that Data entry keeps all relevant information related to the business in one place and the correct order for reference. This job fascinated me because of its aspects, including accessibility, time, duplication, and so on, greatly impacting time. When all the data is inaccurate sequence and order, it is easy to rearrange and duplicate data as and when a business develops. I also liked it because data entry greatly impacts employee efficiency, which is an additional important factor for managing the business well. I am looking forward to learning more tomorrow about this chapter.

Reflection on Finishing the Analyst Assignment

Today I finished the Analyst assignment. It was exciting searching for the data on empowering youth self-sufficiency. However, today I could not find a forum to upload my work. I will do it tomorrow. In the meantime, I uploaded the document on the assignment to show you my progress.

Reflection on the Data Analyst Section

Today I finished the data analyst section of the Analysis unit. My overall reaction to this section is frustrating. The aspect of data analyst or data scientist professions does not fascinate me as it has to do more with coding. I learned that data analysts ascertain how data can be used to answer questions, solve problems, and study what’s happening now to identify trends and make predictions. It was interesting to learn that data analysts are like detectives. To be a data analyst or data scientist, a person needs to be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a structured environment. However, a bachelor's degree is needed for most entry-level jobs. Most data analysts will have mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, or computer science degrees. Strong math and analysis skills are needed. Like most other jobs, many of the best-paid and most successful analysts hold master’s degrees or doctorates, which gives them more expertise and usually guarantees higher pay. However, the average salary of a data analyst is $44,000, which is a lot lower than a yearly salary of a business analyst. The part about this profession that did not excite me is that a business analyst or scientist will need to write real code directly in the browser to analyze real-world data. For example, data Analyst in Python and data Analyst in R. I am sure I will never choose to become a data scientist.

Reflection on the Analyst Unit

Today I continued to learn about the Analyst unit. Their role in a business is significant. I learned that they usually gather, validate and document business requirements. The job also includes. modeling business processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements, Identifying issues, risks, and benefits of existing and proposed solutions, and outlining business impacts. I learned how to become a business analyst. Learning about the process fascinated me as I want to be a business analyst. I learned that, after finishing my undergraduate under a business administration major, I have to get certified as well. Two certificates for business analysts are The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) which offers Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) and Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) programs. I also learned that the high level in this field is management. It is for high-level managers with twenty or more years of experience, a minimum of three years of client consulting, and accountability for successful completion of projects involving management consultants; and otherwise meeting the Basic track. A site showed that the average salary of a business analyst is $92,000/y. It was interesting to learn as well. I also learned that a person needs to be investigative naturally and have the ongoing curiosity to enjoy this career. Because usiness analysis is a discipline in which curiosity and questions are as important as education and technical information. I look forward to learning about data analysts tomorrow!

My Reflection on Completing the Recruit and Talent Acquisition and Getting into Analytics Unit

Today accomplished the assignment of Recruit and Talent Acquisition. To finish the assignment, I had to call five different hiring managers and speak with Human Resources to research their job. It was an interesting experience as I delved into a few job opportunities and understood what recruiters seek from potential employees. I documented my conversation with them and took notes. After submitting the assignment, I started the Analyst Unit. I was intrigued by this chapter as I am a business analytics major. I read and watched a couple of articles on this job. I learned that the job of a business analyst is to find a solution when a company faces a program. I also learned that data and business analysts contribute to their organizations' data-driven decision-making. Data analysts are more involved in addressing business needs and recommending solutions, whereas business analysts are more involved in addressing business needs and recommending solutions.I look forward to learning more about this unit tomorrow.

My Reflection on Stocks, Cryptocurrencies & Other Types of Online Trading

I recently gained interest in the stock market and watched some videos since I want to get my hand on it soon. Therefore, I decided to accomplish this unit. Watching the video of Warren Buffet was fascinating and changed my mindset regarding the stock market and investment strategies. One strategy Warren Buffet explained in this video and that resonated with me the most is we should only buy stocks money in a business that we understand and have faith in. We understand the economics of the business, have the ability to build the circle of competence and the competitive aspects of the business. I like this strategy because doing our own research on a company or business allows us to gauge the future of the company and helps us to by whether it will make a profit or not. Another noteworthy strategy he mentioned is we always seek great opportunities and invest in them. From my understanding, the recession is a golden opportunity to buy stocks as the price of the stocks gets low. However, we should be careful regarding which stocks we put money in and whether they hold any future value. If we put our money into good stocks, there is a great chance of getting a good payback. Therefore, I believe the recession is a golden opportunity to invest in stocks. By reviewing the contents of Types of order, I learned the differentia between different kinds of order. For example, I know that a market order guarantees an execution price.

In contrast, a limit order can only be sold at the limit price or higher, giving buyers a certain form of guarantee to make a profit. I also learned that a stop order, a sell order, is entered at a stop price below the current market price to limit a loss or protect a stock they own. Learning about different types of stocks enhanced my understanding of the stock market and how it works. Overall, it has been an information session for me today.

My Reflection on Finishing the Virtual Assistant Unit and the Unit Assignment

Today I went through the “Where to Find Work” and took some assessments. I was intrigued by the websites attached to the Teachie Youth website as I realized how easy it was to apply for the job. I believe the job of being a virtual assistant is convenient, especially for college students. Therefore I applied through some attached websites. I applied to Smith.ai and Assistant Match. I also learned that depending on the company that hires people, a virtual assistant can expect to earn an hourly rate of $10-$15 per hour as a beginner. However, if I want to apply through Flexjobs, I will need to pay a small fee to the site as part of my membership plan.

I also built a website using Wix. The purpose of my website was to grab the attention of the recruiters looking to hire virtual assistants. I cannot believe that I built a website myself, which was so easy! I also attached my resume and LinkedIn profile to my website. It may not look like the best website ever, but I have certainly learned a lot through finishing up this assignment.

My Reflection on the Virtual Assistant Unit (on the Web Development Section)

Today I learned some basic knowledge about web development. I realized that I do not enjoy this field at all. I will definitely never do any job that includes coding or web designing. But some basic information that I learned today is that HTML is used for making up the website content, CSS is used for styling the website, and JavaScript makes the website interactive. Using these three languages, one can build a website however they want to. As I finished the lesson about WordPress yesterday, I realized the differences between a web developer and a WordPress developer. A WordPress developer is someone who codes specifically for the WordPress platform, whereas a web developer is someone who codes websites in general. The most crucial difference between a developer is that developers base their coding on the design template provided by the designer. They make the live website look exactly like the design photo. While web developers take the site a step further by adding functionality that allows users to click links and buttons, scroll through photos, view your social media, or fill out a contact form to contact you with questions or new business. Although I did not enjoy learning about HTML and CSS much, I found the lesson about Google analytics fascinating. I believe it is a beneficial tool for the people who manage websites. It helps businesses get a better grasp of their website. It also helps evaluate and measure how marketing, content, and products perform relative to user engagement. This tool collects data and sorts it into useful information. I learned that Google analytics is a tool that allows users to see how many people interact with their websites regularly, where they are coming from and important data about them. It also shows what ads are working for their websites and what ads are not working for them. That way, the users can cut down costs. I also like this tool because it does not require the users to know how to code.

My Reflection on the Virtual Assistant Unit

I continued my learning on the same unit and finished literary, virtual meetings, e-commerce, and WordPress today. I also took a test on WordPress. I found literary skills and WordPress most fascinating among those. I learned some differences between the American and British English English languages in terms of pronunciation (differences in both vowel and consonants, as well as stress and intonation), vocabulary (differences in nouns and verbs, especially phrasal verb usage, and the names of specific tools or items, spelling (differences are generally found in specific prefix and suffix forms) and so on. I found these differences enlightening. Learning about the very few grammar differences between American and British English was also fascinating. For example, the use of the present perfect, two forms to express possession, and the verb “get.”I also gained a lot of information on WordPress. It allowed me to understand how easy it is to build a website now as this software does not require the users to code. So, anyone can build a website using WordPress as long as they have sufficient knowledge of this website. This content management system (CMS) is free of cost and online. Therefore, anyone worldwide can use this software without any inconvenience. I also learned about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. I learned that WordPress.com has a lot of limitations such as it does not allow its users to own their domain name, upload a customizable theme, upload plugins, and so on. WordPress.org is more convenient in this regard. In addition, I learned that WordPress is written using PHP as the scripting language. PHP is an open-source, server-side language that runs on the web hosting server.

My Reflection on the Virtual Assistant Unit

Today I continued to study the Virtual Assistant Unit and took some tests as well. I learned about the different categories of skills for virtual assistants such as traveling, scheduling, official skills, productivity apps, and social media. I learned that as a virtual assistant, finding the employer a hotel is a common task. Therefore, an individual must become proficient in finding and booking hotels. I learned that tablehotels.com is a website that provides its audience with boutique and curated hotels which means its team has visited and vetted everyone at the hotel sites. The website also provides reviews which always makes it easier for people to gauge the hotels. Scheduling is also another common task of a virtual assistant. I learned that using Google Calendar conveniently stores important dates, meetings, and other tasks, but we need to learn how to use it first correctly. This app also allows the users to view offline which can come in clutch often. Another vital piece of information I learned today is that if we hit the Q key, Google Calendar will present the event mini-form allowing us to enter an event for the current day. It is a fast and easy task. Today, I also went through the official skills portion where I learned about transcription, telephone skills, and email management. For example: I learned about the Gmmail features which allow us to tag and label emails and make it convenient for us to access any necessary email in the future. Another important feature of the Gmail app is snooze which allows us to block off emails from certain desired accounts to disappear until a selected time. I will be using these skills for my personal use in the future. Overall, today was an informative and exciting session for me.

My Reflection on Finishing the Recruiter and Talent Acquisition and Starting the Virtual Assistant Unit

Today I looked through the websites that provide people with recruiting jobs. I skimmed through CareerBuilder, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed, Google, and ZipRecruiter for recruiter jobs. Upon finishing this unit, I realized that my initial thought about being this job a side hustle is wrong. I learned that this job requires dedication, time, and hard work. I also realized that this is not something I would be interested in doing in the future as I do not think I will find this job enjoyable. Next, I started the Virtual Assistant unit today. I picked this unit because I think this is a convenient job to make extra money as a college student and the job is not stressful. I learned that the primary responsibilities of a virtual assistant are to perform administrative work, respond to emails and phone calls, schedule meetings, book travel accommodations, Manage a contact list, prepare customer spreadsheets and keep online records, organize managers’ calendars, perform market research, create presentations, as assigned, address employees administrative queries, provide customer service as the first point of contact and so on. These responsibilities made me realize that the job is not stressful and can be efficiently done over a short period if an individual has time management and organizing skills. Since I have developed these skills by working in different jobs throughout the years, this job interested me. Another positive aspect is that they often do not require college graduates for this position. Therefore, I believe it can be a good side hustle for college students. I am looking forward to delving into this unit tomorrow!

My Reflection on Recruiter and Talent Acquisition

I continued the same unit as yesterday for today’s work. I find it surprising the amount of information there in the recruiting field. It is overwhelming to some extent. Today I learned about recruiter software, specialty recruiters, and recruiterly and took some tests. It has been interesting to learn about all the new stuff. I was also shocked to learn that recruiters get paid up to $70,000 annually. A recruitment software that fascinated me is zenefits. It is a SaaS cloud-based HR platform that helps small and mid-sized companies empower their workforce, manage change and stay compliant. I like this software because it allows the user to deliver the most comprehensive, intuitive HR experience in the market so that other people can be benefited. It benefits streamlines workflow by automatically connecting HR, Benefits, Payroll and Scheduling in one platform allowing people to spend less time on low-priority tasks so your team can focus on more important ones. I also learned about the job of different recruiters which was fascinating. I learned that there are recruiters who companies hire only to recruit potential employees. I was mostly intrigued by the concept of executive recruiters who specializes in hiring executive personnel and work solely with high-level executives seeking management positions. It gives them power and influence in the company. I also learned that technical recruiters enjoy a lot of benefits than the other types of recruiters as it gives them access to a good business network to pull candidates from

My Reflection on Recruiter and Talent Acquisition

I continued to study the Recruiter and Talent Acquisition Unit. I took some tests and read articles on How to Recruit and Recruiting Software. Something interesting I learned today is that there are 3 types of resumes and I believe we all should be aware of the type as it will increase our potential to get the desired job. I learned that some resumes are based on experiences and skills specific to the job posts, some are general and the other type is a combination. Linked in is also a great source of recruiting employees for companies. I also learned about the steps of the selection process for hiring employees. The selection process is:

1. Application

2. Resume screening

3. Screening call

4. Assessment test

5. In-person interviewing

6. Background checks

7. Reference checks

8. Decision and job offer

I also learned that the main goal of recruitment marketing is to encourage more qualified applications. Usually, the type of position and the nature of the work determines the recruitment marketing efforts, namely how and where the job opening is advertised. It is essential in those fields and will enhance the employer's brand. Overall, today was productive and learned alot of information regarding this field!

My Reflection on Recruiter and Talent Acquisition

Today, I studied the Recruiter and Talent Acquisition Unit which opened my eyes to the field of talent recruiters who find potential candidates for businesses to hire. First of all, I did not know before that there are professional recruiters whose job is to hire employees for companies. I always thought upper job holders recruit for companies. It was interesting to see business majors sometimes get into professional recruiting. As a student majoring in business analytics, the aspect of online recruiting fascinated me. This profession can easily be considered a side hustle to make some extra money for many people. I learned that communication is the key in this job and people who intend to find a career like this should be confident, have good listening skills and have the ability to read and display positive body language. I think professional recruiting and talent acquisition is an excellent way of building a solid network in professional life, which also sharpens our relationship-building skills. It was fascinating to see how the covid-19 has impacted the work situation worldwide. The pandemic has sparked innovations in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding at like companies. At-home-work opportunities are now increasing exponentially. It also opened a new dimension by giving employers to recruit employees globally. Although I hav not been able to finish the unit today as there are many articles and videos attached, I am looking forward to learning more about recruiting tomorrow!

My Reflection on Finishing the Fundraising Unit

I finished the fundraising unit today. It has been an enlightening experience for me as I delve deeper into this topic. Today I learned about the inspiring story of Lynda Lysakowski, a fundraiser and now an author, who worked for a bank that encouraged volunteerism. She left her corporate job to get a job at an NGO as she realized how much she enjoyed fundraising. It was interesting to learn her life story. I also learned about 7 best sites to find a nonprofit job. I also learned about some disadvantages of fundraising which people should consider if anyone wants to start getting a job in this field. Some disadvantages are high turnover among development staff, a shortage of qualified candidates for fundraising jobs, and a lack of resources among nonprofit organizations. Fundraisers also suffer from not having sufficient resources and are haunted by overwork. Such a situation can be avoided by asking questions such as: candidates ask critical questions about the job before jumping into it. They include:

How many people have held this position in the last five years? You'll find out if the job is a revolving door.

Is there a budget for professional development? If not, head for the door. You will not get proper support.

How does the board feel about fundraising? If the board thinks fundraising is not their job, watch out.

Studying this taught me some valuable skills that will come in clutch for my next fundraising campaign at the NGO where I am currently working.

My Reflection on Finishing half of the Fundraising Unit

Today I finished the elective fundraising unit halfway through. It has been an insightful experience for me as I personally work with NGO that raises funds to help poor children in Bangladesh. I previously raised funds for this NGO; therefore, studying this unit taught me some useful fundraising strategies. An important piece of information that surprised me is that the median salary of fundraisers is above $60,000. I was shocked because I did not know people earn money through fundraising. I also learned that there are ways people can get jobs in multinational companies and earn a decent salary off of it. I think the advantage of being a fundraiser is that it allows you to build a strong networking system with people. As a result, it gives you a lot of opportunities to change your workplace and move on to a better one. I also learned a useful strategy called “Crowdfunding”. Instead of seeking a large sum from a single source, crowdfunding raises small amounts of money from many people, often in exchange for direct rewards. It was interesting to learn that people do it now online via GroupMe, Kickstarter, and Indiegogo. I liked Rewards Crowdfunding better than the other two types of crowdfunding as it rewards the contributors somehow to catch their attention. If we can give them something not costly but meaningful (maybe something little handmade that says “thank you”) or do something for them for free, I believe it will catch their attention more, and they will want to contribute. After finishing the unit, I cannot wait to do a fundraising campaign for the NGO I am currently working with soon.

Reflection on the “Selling Art Online”

I have always been interested in making acrylic paintings and sketches since childhood. Therefore, when I saw the Unit “Selling Art Online, it immediately caught my attention. This unit has made me interested in selling some of my pieces online as I realized it is possible! An interesting piece of information that I learned through studying this unit is that we should always maintain an inventory to make sure we are not asking for higher prices compared to other websites. I also learned about how people build online businesses to sell arts. I particularly found the video “How artist Jose Trujillo started selling his paintings” where he explains how he got started by selling on Craigslist, and also sells on eBay, Instagram and other platforms. It made me realize how we can use these everyday apps to earn money. Some strategies that I learned are best-practices to implement as part of an online art sales efforts are

Posting on social networks regularly about topics related to your art, engaging with interested people on social platforms regularly, keeping in touch with your potential buyers by sending a newsletter with your updates and working process. Focusing on one niche of art, a specific art category, genre or style, so that the audience can easily recognize my works is also another good strategy for selling art online! Therefore, it was an interesting and informative unit for me!

My Reflection on Finishing Another Prerequisite Unit at Techie Youth!

I have finished the prerequisite unit “Improving Your Quality of Life”. I found this unit very informative and appealing as I learned about uncountable ways we can improve the life we are currently loving through watching YouTube videos and reading articles. My most important takeaway from this lesson is: that to make sure that we are living a fully enhanced life, we have to make sure:

We are taking full financial responsibilities

We are efficient at managing our time.

We are taking care of our physical and mental health

We are being productive

Stress management

We have identified role models and/or mentors in our lives

And we enjoy the process of "working" to earn income

I realized that it is important that we always make sure to improve these seven aspects of life to improve the quality of our life. Moreover, I recognized one of my weaknesses by finishing the section about Stress Management. It is that I sometimes let people control my emotion by being easily stressed out or getting mad. However, the section taught me the importance of being indifferent in such situations. An interesting technique that I have learned is if someone stimulates our feelings of anger, we should stop whatever we are doing immediately and go look in the mirror. Then we should smile as wide of a smile as you can make. We should, then, hold that smile for at least 10-seconds while looking at ourselves. I learned that this process would change our emotions. I found this interesting and will be trying this out in the future definitely!

My Reflection on Finishing the Prerequisite Unit at Techie Youth!

Today, I have finished the Unit “How to Earn Money Online”. It was an enlightening experience as I learned about many topics and new skills. For instance, I learned a lot from the lesson “Searching for Remote Online Opportunities” as it contains a lot of resources that provide people with remote jobs. From this section, I also learned about the importance of speaking the right language. There are at least 19 different ways to say “remote work.” Since a company does not use the same term as another company, as I am searching for a remote job, I should know all the different ways to say “remote work.” Therefore, paying attention to the wording used by companies in job listings boost our chances in getting hired by the employer through interview. I also learned through studying this unit that not all remote jobs are trustworthy. So we should consider any red flags or scam alerts when looking for a remote job. I also enjoyed studying the contents of “Public Image”. I did not know employers check our social media as well to get a sense of the character and behavior of potential future employees. Although I knew it before, this piece of information is interesting that once we post something online,, even if we remove it, there are often still ways that someone can recover it if they wanted to. Therefore, we should always be careful of what we are posting online. I would say, this unit has enhanced my skills and knowledge on how to get a good and safe remote job. I loved it!
