Today I focused on mobile app creation. I learned about how to develop apps that work across IOS and Android as well as monetization. For developing apps that work on IOS and Android there isn’t a need for using different code in order to get your app working on these different devices. There are softwares that allow you to fo this such as Microsoft Xamarin, Appcelerator Titanium, Adobe PhoneGap and more. Monetizing your mobile app is important because it is a way to get people to download your app. By promoting your app, people begin to download it and you can begin to earn income.
Today I focused on the analyst topic. Business analyst are those who solve problems for the company they are apart of. They offer guidance and advice as well as potential solutions. I learned about what data analyst do as well. Data analyst review data and find ways that the data can solve problems within the business.
Today I learned about quality assurance testers and technicians. Before reading more about the topic based on the words “quality assurance” I assumed that these technicians and testers are responsible for the quality of certain softwares. There are many different types of testing, a few being: smoke and sanity testing, and regression testing. These are considered intro tests while there are website and content testing. My assumption was correct because the job of QA’s is to make sure that the software and at times hardware is working the way the client expects it to.
Today I continued to learn about entrepreneurship. Specifically, I learned how to write an executive business summary. At the beginning of an executive summary you must include your business name as well as your contact info. This should obviously be at the very beginning as an introduction. Next should be your elevator pitch which is only 1-2 sentences long explaining what your business does and how you plan to make profit. Next should be your business model and financials for explaining how your business operates and an overview of major financial factors. Executive business summaries are typically a page long or a bit longer.
Today I decided to go back to the beginning and work on entrepreneurship. I learned about Co-Founders and profit models. Co-Founders are business partners that compliment each other and contribute skills that the other might not have. Businesses should utilize several profit models as a contingency. I will be using the information I learned today in my executive business summary.
Again, I was learning about earning money by writing. I focused on transcription and customer service and correspondence. In order to have any transcription job you need to have a minimum writing speed and of course typing accuracy. Writing speed is measured in WPM (words per minute. The skills you need for such jobs are strong listening skills, language proficiency, etc. I also learned about customer service and correspondence. When I think about customer service, I think about treating customers with respect. The type of customer service through writing is talking to clients online.
Today I continued with the writing topic, specifically guest blogging and ghostwriting. I already knew what ghostwriting was because of music artists but I didn’t even know guest blogging was. Ghostwriting is hiring another person to write content for you whether that be articles or song lyrics. Guest blogging is when you write content for other people’s site in order to gain for exposure. Tomorrow I will continue with the writing topic and try to get through the subcategories.
Today I continued to learn about writer by exploring the different ways to use your writing skills to earn money. Specifically, I started learning about copywriting. I learned that copywriting and creative writer are very different because copywriting is more for marketing a product or service for a company. The type of writing that copywriters write must be clear, concise, and persuasive. On a day to day basis copywriters write copies for ads, marketing materials, even websites. I had never heard of copywriting before today and I’m glad that I got introduced to this branch of writing.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned about how to make money by writing. When I was in middle school I learned that I actually liked writing, when I had a say in the subject. I never thought about writing in order to earn money. The skills needed to for any writing job are accountability and reliability. There are gonna be certain deadlines in place and you have to make sure that you submit your writing piece in time. Meaning you have to hold yourself accountable and work on time management. There are different types of writing that can help you earn a profit such as magazine writing, copywriting, transcription, etc. There are so many different ways to earn money through writing, and I only started learning about magazine writing.
Today at Techie Youth, I focused on the topic of niche websites. A niche website is a website that focuses on a specific niche and has a specific audience. For example, a website about hip-hop/rap is a part of the music market. I learned how to make sure your website is secure by enabling a SSL certificate as well as the pros and cons of making a niche website. After studying this topic I will make my own niche website and submit it.
Today at Techie Youth I learned how to produce music. Music is something that I have great interest. I’ve always had the garageband app on my phone because it came with the phone. However, I never knew how to use it. I would just press buttons and hope for the best. Today at Techie Youth, I watched a tutorial and it was very much needed. Now I know how to utilize the app and I can create music whenever I feel like it.
Continuing with the Selling Computer-Designed Objects and Technological Crafts, I learned about Clothing, jewelry, fashion items and wearable-tech. Everyone has some sort of interest in clothes and fashion and others have a passion for making them. In order to create clothes, you must first come up with a design. CAD is a software that allows users to design objects in realistic scale. The designs made with CAD can be used to visualize ideas or to actually bring these creations to life. After creating these designs, business owners can sell their items on different platforms, such as Ebay.
Today at Techie Youth I learned about laser cutting. I didn’t even know that laser cutting was a thing, let alone something that you can earn money from. Laser cutting is when one uses a laser to cut out shapes from different materials. It’s possible to create 3D objects using 2D laser-cut parts. Just like any other business venture, a laser cutting business is a great opportunity. It’s all about taking a risk in order to make profit.
Today I continued to learn about 3D printed products. I learned about the different softwares that one can use to create 3D objects. The softwares that I learned about today are TinkerCad, Blender, Autodesk Meshmixer, Autocad by Autodesk, and Solidworks. Tinkercad, Blender and Autodesk Meshmixer are free while AutoCad by Autodesk and Solidworks are costly. However, AutoCad does have a free trial. As I was watching the tutorials on how to use these different softwares, I realized that I was actually interested in 3D design. I remember the first time I heard about 3D printing I was in awe. I didn’t believe that you could design something on the computer and have it print out in 3D.
Today I decided to start from the beginning with the topic of selling computer-designed objects and technological crafts. I wanted to work on assignments that I kept leaving for later, so that is why I am starting from the top. With this part in the entrepreneurship section it’s important to know that when starting your own business you won’t make as much as you want in the beginning. You must continue to grow your business and then there may be an increase in your income however it is possible that you’ll lose money. I learned that you can make money from 3d printed products. In order to make any profit from these products you must sell the objects you make for more than you spend on making them. 3d printing is expensive, so the type of products you should make are those that have a high demand with low supply. This way you can sell it at a high price point.
Today I studied the recruiter and talent acquisition topic. Recruiters search for businesses. They screen, and interview candidates before presenting them to the business that is hiring. Recruiters can also receive applications and pass them on to their clients. Talent acquisition is when employers recruit, track, and interview candidates. As well as onboarding and training new hires. Recruiters must have skills such as marketing, communication, patience and many other skills.
Today I explored many topics but I was focused on video editing. Video editing is a way for those who have a talent for editing and enjoy doing it to earn money. They are able to set their own salary and negotiate with clients. Video editors control footage, sound effects/effects that is used to produce the final cut of a video. When I watch youtube videos, often the editor makes it known that they’re there. This job is a great way to work from home and still having income.
Today as I continued the web development section, I learned about web design and google analytics. Web design is all about creativity, hence the name. Creativity is a skill that not everyone has and those going into web design should have passion and a creative mind. Google analytics is something that I always hear about but I never knew what it’s purpose was. Google analytics tracks one’s website traffic and gives owners information and insight on who is accessing their website.
Today I continued to learn about web development, specifically databases. Databases are used in order to store one’s data from their website. There are two categories of databases: denormalized non-relational database and normalized relational database. Denormalized would create a record for each user and it contains all their data. Normalized spilts data into small chunks and places each chunk into a table of similar data. I understand the importance and use of databases. I never realized that there were different categories, I thought it was just one thing.
Today I continued learning about web development. I learned about version control and WordPress. WordPress is a website that allows users to create their own website (whether it be for free or charged). Version control tracks and manages any changes made to software. With what I’ve learned today, I believe that I can help the people in my life who want to start an online business.
Today I learned about web development and design. I knew that creating a website was difficult but I never realized how difficult it actually was. Coding is much more complicated than I had previously thought. I had only heard of JavaScript but I didn’t know it’s purpose. Now I understand what steps and the different coding languages.
Today at Techie Youth I learned more about the social media platforms that I use. Specifically how to utilize them if you want to promote yourself and grow your following. Twitter, TikTok,,Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, and WeChat allows millions of users to connect and interact each other. I had never heard of WeChat before today and it truly is the super app. It’s like a combination of WhatsApp, Apple Pay, etc. All these apps gives people the opportunity to partner up with brands in order to earn money while promoting them. Being a social media influencer takes a lot of work and patience because it doesn’t just happen over night.
Today at Techie Youth I learned how to use the internet for personal gain. I learned what niche is and what it means. Niche websites and businesses are targeted towards a certain audience. Social media is a great way to get your business out there. It allows business owners to reach thousands of people and get their business off of the ground.
What I learned today was how to promote yourself on different platforms. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook allow users and business owners to promote their business or their page in order to gain more traction. I watched videos and read articles about how to create ads and how much it costs to put out an ad. Putting out an ad on a social media platform is great because it allows users to be seen by the millions of other users.
Today I learned more about selling digital goods and running a business. I learned more about the different types of business models. I know that building and running a business takes time, effort and a lot of planning. There are different business models for each type of business. The subscription business model allows people to pay for services every month or year. The freemium business model is the most common and offers basic free services. Selling digital goods seems like a great way to build the business you want by choosing the best business model for your business.
What I learned today was the different ways to earn money. I didn’t have much knowledge on stocks or cryptocurrency. When it comes to stocks all I really know is buy low and sell high. Most of my knowledge on stocks come from TikTok. After reading on stocks and trading I believe that I’m starting to understand stocks a bit more.
What I learned today was how to better manage my stress. I can’t be successful in life if I let my stress get the best of me. I don’t take care of myself mentally and I need to work on it. I tend to ignore my problems because I believe that it’s better than dealing with it. After reading and learning about ways to take care of my mental health, I can take the necessary steps to ensure success.
Today at Techie Youth I learned about the different ways I can earn money and how to save my money as well. When it comes to my finances, I somewhat have a hard time saving money. Whenever my favorite store has a sale, I need to buy clothes. I know that I don’t need anymore but I can’t help myself. After spending some time learning from others about finances, I believe that I can take the necessary steps to save money.
What I learned today at Techie Youth are the benefits of working remotely. I was given information about how to write a resume and cover letter. As well as how to present myself in a professional workspace and during an interview. I also learned about different types of currency. I was obviously aware of cash, checks and applications such as PayPal and Zelle. However, I didn’t know much about cryptocurrency or how it works. After reading and watching videos about cryptocurrency today, I know more about it but I’m definitely not an expert.
