Earn Income Immediately.. Sort Of

Today, I covered the various ways one can make money from home without any immediate investment. These include music reviews, taking surveys online, engaging in playlisting. However, all of these methods are not enough to garner an income to live off of, but rather a way to make money in your spare time. Quite interesting, but rather ineffective.

Digital Assets (2/2)

Today, I used the information I learned from the digital asset unit in order to set up framework for a passive income system that will generate itself while i’m in college. Resellers are making a profit selling products from AliExpress and selling them on the likes of Amazon and Facebook Marketplace. Since the customer buys the product first, the creator literally needs no money to start the business, but rather just needs to carve out the time to ship out products, and constantly post ads. I’m recruiting people to work on the project with me and I’ll definitely keep you all updated.

Blogs for 7/30 - 7/31

Today, I’ve taken a quick break from the Entrepreneurial Unit to look into later units that I would be interested in. I’ve started to write a song that I will later produce for the Online Music Production Unit, now all that’s left is to somehow link the track to the things I’ve learned throughout my time at Techie Youth.

The Importance of A Proper Website

Thursday, I reviewed content on how to create my own website using Wiz, as well as select other website creators. Your website should be a quick, concise web link that not only showcases your personality, but also concisely shows your “mission statement”. A few tips for a perfect website: choosing complimentary fonts, as in font pairs that go along well together; as well as using various forms of different media. Finally, having your contact information in a website makes it that much easier to grow your fan base and find potential collaborators. Using this information, I edited my website and the results can be seen at this link: https://drum.io/jasonzane

The Faults that Come with Running a Startup

Today, I reviewed content that primarily involved itself with how one can start their own business. For one, obtaining an official LLC for a startup, as well as an individual tax identification number for the company are not only necessary to start a business, but rather easy to do as all the materials needed to do so are on the internet. Next, I went over different business models including high-tail and recurring (subscription) business models. Finally, I went over how to properly choose a co-partner for a potential startup, and the keys that come with determining these partners (for, intent, like-mindedness, etc)

A Bit Of an Offline Day

Yesterday, I reviewed various elements of the basics of entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, I fell asleep due to the strenuous work I was performing at my other job (I work PT at Housing Works, a thrift shop dedicated to fighting AIDS and combatting the homeless crisis plaguing NYC), so this blog serves to cover today and yesterday. Yesterday was just a slight refresher on basic topics (reading the room, interview skills, etc). Today, I worked on formatting my mini business and developing a business model for this assignment, which is something i’m actually enjoying. I can’t say I’ve enjoyed much at this program, but I do like it when I am given some form of creative freedom. Right now, Im trying to format a business model for renting our properties as AirBnbs and turning that into a passive form of income, which is actually something I want to achieve by the time I’m 25. I’ll be finished with the assignment by Tuesday.

Maybe Sometimes Silence is Best

Todays lessons involved the beginning stages of the entrepreneurial unit; in which the basic skills needed to develop the startup for one’s personals company was discussed. Although these are lessons I am mostly familiar with, one thing stood out or me in particular, which is the idea of silence being used to gain favor during an interview. Usually, people are on belief that the more they converse with their interviewer during their interview session, the greater odds of them being remembered and hired. However, this couldn’t be further from true, as occasional silence demonstrates the willingness to listen, as well as the ability to think critically. Just a little something to keep in my mind for my future endeavors.

Managing Time Effectively

Today, I was able to finish up both of the introductory capsules, and one of the main skills stressed was time management. Using one’s time properly, (or in a detrimental manner) affects productivity in the workplace. A common method to manage time is being able to organize tasks that have priority over their counterparts, and using an online scheduler in order to keep everything organized. I have also been keeping a log of how I’ve spent time, and l am finding that although my schedule is crammed with work, I am finding little enjoyment in my life, so I hope using these methods, I can find a solution to this.

Covering Digital Nomadism

Over the course of today's readings, one of the more interesting pieces I have read was concerned with the idea of becoming a digital nomad. Being a nomad means that one has no set area in which they life, and they migrate from region to region. Being a digital nomad has this same principle, but instead the nomad in this instance fulfills their cost of travel and other living expenses by engaging in mobile online work (such as becoming an ESL teacher or becoming a date entrant). Extremely fascinating way to live life, especially considering that I have limited experience on international (and in part, domestic) travel; and is most definitely a lifestyle to consider post-graduation.

07/13 Blog - Covering Professionalism

Today, we covered the finer points of maintaining professionalism where it concerns obtaining a job. Just because the work environment may be online, this doesn’t mean that the standards expected are any less. For example, employees are still expected to be punctual, focused and prepared. In addition, various sites were given in which there are plenty openings for online jobs (such as Glassdoor). Finally, I covered important questions to ask a potential employer, such as researching the company prior and appearing engaged at interviews. Overall, another nice refresher as I find myself attempting to take a step towards my dream job.

Intro to Techie Youth

Today was my first day working with TechieYouth, and it was a rather refreshing day overall. I went through the first half of the introductory module. The idea behind this module is to reinforce the principles of obtaining a job (the process of seeking one, establishing a public profile, learning professional vernacular, etc). In addition, accounts of a 12 year olds first job were rather fascinating to watch, as this summer I’ve gotten a job (Taylor Creative) that I ended up quitting in a week; so I definitely understand where he was coming from. I also established my linkedin, did some browsing on internships, and cleaned up my public presence a bit on my social medias.
