‘Recruitment’

‘Recruitment’

Jedi Batista

Today at Techie Youth I learned about the fundamentals of being a recruiter for a job or agency. Being a recruiter means seeking out talent for the company you work for. As a recruiter it is your responsibility to explain to workers, all of the factors that come with the job you are presenting. Some recruiters use social media to find potential workers, and it’s a faster way to promote the company you recruit for as well. In conclusion, being a recruit means you show potential workers what your company is made of.

‘The Importance of Business Analysts’

‘The Importance of Business Analysts’

Jedi Batista

Today at Techie Youth I learned about what a Business Analyst is and what it means to be one. A business analyst’s job is to help facilitate a solution to a current or future problem that a business may have. They gather business’ required conditions and capabilities, documenting them in a consistent, complete and useful way for the team that will eventually design and deliver the solution. Their main responsibilities are making sure these requirements are visible to and understood by stakeholders regardless of whether the solution is a new product, service, or computer system. Business analysts are meant to offer guidance and advice on what requirements and solutions will best fit a business’ needs, now and into the future. They work closely with decision makers as well as development and testing teams, they ensure the solution developed will meet the business’ requirements in an acceptable and sustainable way.

In conclusion, Business Analysts play a larger role in the industry today, and without them businesses wouldn’t be the same.

‘Virtual Assistance’

‘Virtual Assistance’

Jedi Batista

Today at Techie Youth I learned about what it means to be a Virtual assistant, and the skills that you need in order to become one. Being a virtual assistant (also known as a VA) can be a great full time job that allows people to work from home. It’s a job that almost ANYBODY can land now that more people are working from the comfort of their home.

There are 11 skills to master before becoming a Virtual Assistant. Personal Time Management, Bookkeeping, Scheduling and Correspondence, Lead Generation, Content Management, Social Media Management, E-Commerce Support, Writing, Proofreading, Project Management, and Data Entry. One thing that all of these skills have in common is the fact that they have something to do with writing and literature. Learning these skills can help you with tasks that have lots to do with writing comprehension. One misconception that I learned about that comes with being a VA is that just because you are working from home it means you don’t have to be social with your coworkers or clients as a VA. This is false because while you are still working from home, you MUST know how to communicate with others, and how to speak fluently with other supervisors and clients. People tend to get too comfortable when it comes to working from home and that is the only downside to remote learning.

In conclusion, being a VA is one of the most easiest and accessible jobs that anybody can have in this day and age.

‘Fundraising and Donations’

‘Fundraising and Donations’

Jedi Batista

Today at techie youth, I learned how to raise money for communities and organizations through fundraisers. Fundraising is the process of seeking and gathering voluntary financial contributions by engaging individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or governmental agencies. The most common and well known version of fundraising is non profit fundraising, and the most of the money from this fundraising comes from individuals. There are 4 steps to fundraising:

1. Prospecting

2. Cultivation

3. Asking

4. Stewardship

Overall, I feel like fundraising is a great way of learning how to communicate with others, and also learn the ins and outs of running business, even if it’s an unprofitable business.

“Working Online”

“Working Online”

Jedi Batista

Today in techie youth I learned more about making an income online. There are a variety of ways to make money from the comfort of your home that I did not know about. I learned that you are able to work with companies such as Amazon. With Amazon you can help sell products and you will earn 8% of the total profit. Now, this may not sound like a lot of money however making large amounts of money is a progress and it takes time. The main lesson that I learned here was that just like like working online, life takes time to work out and put you in the position that you want to be in.

'Selling Digital Goods'

'Selling Digital Goods'

Jedi Batista

Today at Techie Youth I learned about selling digital goods and products. Digital Products are resources that are distributed online. Examples of digital goods are products such as ebooks, online courses, or web templates. Digital Products are a good way of leveling up your career as a content creator. Selling digital goods is usually meant to be an alternative and another source of low income. It doesn’t have to be your main job, but rather just another way of making money. There’s also no need to manage or store inventory when selling digital products since everything you sell is online. This industry of selling digital products has definitely sky rocketed over the last 2 years with the rise of remote learning. More teachers are searching for resources to improve their virtual teaching capabilities.

The main question now is: how do I market my digital goods? This is a good question because as the years have gone by, the way of advertising products has changed tremendously. From seeing billboards on the street, and commercials on TV, to now social media posts promoting your digital products. One of the best ways to also promote and sell your digital goods is by sending emails about your product. This is called Email Marketing and it’s a great way to build engagement for your brand, as well as being used for branding, acquisition, retention, direct sales, reactivation, generating traffic, and getting referrals to grow your business.

From video courses to ebooks, there are more opportunities now than ever before for sellers to start a successful business.

'3D Product Printing'

'3D Product Printing'

Jedi Batista

Today in techie youth I learned about creating 3D printed products, and how easy it is to create anything you can imagine. I learned that with applications such as Blender, TinkerCad, Autodesk Meshmixer, and other programs, you can create 3D Models and make a living off of your designs. Whether you would like to actually export these models and make them into real products, or you’re just using your models for 3D animation. A lot of animators within the cartoon film and television industry use programs such as blender to model their characters for iconic TV shows and movies that we see everyday. 3D Printing however, is what comes after you have fully designed your product. Once you have designed your product on your software, you would then begin to print your product. Some 3D printing services that are accessible are Beamler, i.Materialise, Kraftwurx, Materialise OnSite, etc. 3D Modeling and Printing have definitely had a huge impact on the industry, and will most definitely be used more often to create more efficient products.

'Artificial Intelligence... What is it?'

'Artificial Intelligence... What is it?'

Jedi Batista

Today in Techie Youth, I learned more about artificial intelligence (A.I.) and how it can benefit the world. Artificial Intelligence is the capability of a machine or computer device to emulate human intelligence. A.I. is meant to help complete a large number of tasks at a faster rate that humans could never. A.I. systems are more accurate, but also have higher adaptability and productivity.

As Artificial Intelligence becomes more advanced, businesses and industries are finding different ways to implement A.I. into their online interfaces. For example, whenever a customer has a question about how to approach a specific section of the online shop they are searching through, there are chatbots that are there to help you reach your destination on the site. There is also Artificial Intelligence helping you with fraud detection and making sure there is nobody trying to track or profile you on sites such as Safari or Google.

People who work on Artificial Intelligence obviously play a huge part in the way A.I. helps us today. These people are called A.I. Engineers, and they can make approximately up to $122K yearly by working on Artificial Intelligence remotely. These people are changing the world from the comfort of their homes.

Believe it or not, Artificial Intelligence has already helped us in such a massive way without most people even knowing. A.I. has helped us with things such as calculating numbers or robotics in general. However, this is only the beginning of Artificial Intelligence. Who knows where A.I. can take us 100 years from now.

'Good Design'

'Good Design'

Jedi Batista

Success is the residue of good design. This is the lesson that I learned today at Techie Youth. While the main subject or topic that I learned today has to do with web design, I truly learned about the morals of becoming a web designer and how to become great at anything you do in life.

Building a website in general is not easy at all. You have to worry about the costs and prices of your site, how reachable it is, how to build an audience, etc. However, when it comes to ANYTHING in life, it’s a process and you must TAKE. YOUR. TIME. Nothing good in life comes easy, and if it does it won’t last long. You have to work for what you want, and being a web designer is a huge part of this. “Success is the residue of good design.” What does this even mean? It could be all subjective at the end of the day but what I think this quote is saying is that your success is the product of YOUR design. Meaning, your success truly depends on the quality of your design. In order to acquire your success of course, this means that you must put in the work and effort into your design. For instance, if I wanted to become good at basketball and maybe play professionally, I would have to train everyday and prove my skills in different tournaments around the city. By doing this, I’m putting in hours of work at practice and through the tournaments therefore gaining recognition by different schools, scouts, or coaches. Now if I were to make it into the NBA, my role as a “Professional Basketball Player” would be NOTHING without the hours of practice and work that I put in. My success is now the residue of my good design. This same ideology can apply to anything in life, and I learned this through learning about Web Design.

'Product Management'

'Product Management'

Jedi Batista

Today at Techie Youth, I learned how to sell products in the most efficient way. This is called being a product manager. A Product Manager is the person who’s responsible for the development of products for an organization. According to Martin Eriksson, “Product managers simply point don’t have any direct authority over most of the things needed to make their products successful. From used and data research through design and development to marketing, sales, and support.” What this means is that PM’s play a big role in different industries because they make sure that the product is qualified to put out and sell to the real world. Today I also learned about the three primary factors when evaluating a role: Core Competencies, Emotional Intelligence, and Company Fit.

First is Core Competencies:

Core Competently are developed with experience, good role models, and mentoring. Some examples of these competencies are: conducting customer interviews and user testing, running design prints, feature prioritization and road map planning, etc. All of these competencies are also examples of being a responsible leader because they are competencies that force you to take initiative.

Secondly, Emotional Intelligence:

Customers want to know that the product they’re buying was made for them and made by somebody just like them. The best PM’s have the ability to empathize with customers. They’re tuned in to their body language and emotions, and can clearly specify the points that the product or feature will address. The four key traits of Emotional Intelligence when it comes to being a PM are Relationship Management, Self Awareness, Self Management, and Social Awareness. These four traits are looking out for yourself but also your coworkers, your company, and the customers that you are providing for.

Lastly is Company Fit:

Just because the best PMs have well developed core competencies and high emotional intelligence doesn’t always mean that they are the best fit for wherever they work at. If you are working for a company it’s best to feel like you are the right fit for the company. It’s best to find the company that is the right fit for YOU.

In conclusion, there is a lot that comes with being a Product Manager, but it’s all about the way you communicate with your coworkers, AND the way you sell your products to your costumers.

'Stocks and Investment'

'Stocks and Investment'

Jedi Batista

Today in techie youth, I learned more about stock markets and investment. I learned that investing in stocks, business, and properties is a great and efficient way of making money, whether it’s a side hustle or your main source of income. One of the main things that I learned today were the Types of Orders that are involved with stocks and investment.

First, there are Market Orders:

A Market Order is an order to buy or sell a security immediately. This order guarantees that the order will be executed and fulfilled, but will not be executed on a price. The last traded price is not necessarily the price at which a market order will be executed.

Next is Limit Orders:

Limit Orders are orders to buy or sell securities at a specific price or better. A buy limit order can only be executed at the limit price or lower.

Thirdly, a Stop Order (also referred to as a Stop-Loss Order):

A Stop Order is an order to buy or sell a stock once the price of the stock reaches the specified price (known as the stop price).

Lastly, a Buy Stop Order:

A Buy Stop Order is entered at a stop price above the current market price. Investors generally use a buy stop order to limit a loss or protect a profit on a stock that they have sold short.

I feel like knowing all of these factors can really help me with learning how to invest and buy stocks to make more money.

'The Importance of Writers'

'The Importance of Writers'

Jedi Batista

Today in Techie Youth, I learned about how much of a big role writing plays in the working industry in today’s day and age. There are a countless number of jobs that you can apply for that have to do with being a writer. Whether it’s being a journalist, author, blogger, etc. there will always be a role for a writer to play in society. We NEED writers. Without them we wouldn’t have a way of reading about specific events that everybody can understand in the future. Think about it, certain books and articles tell stories of our historical events that makes the world what it is today. Without writers we wouldn’t know what happened in the history of our world, and how to prevent specific events from happening again. Writers are a part of the reason why we have the tools as a society to not repeat history. Now on a level that deals more with entertainment, writers also play a huge role in that field. We have writers who write for cartoons, shows, movies, music, and much more. The scripts and lyrics that writers curate are what others who work on the project build off of. Without writers there is no blueprint to their overall project. At the end of the day, the world is nothing without writers… at least it would be nothing to remember without them.

'Practice Makes Progress'

'Practice Makes Progress'

Jedi Batista

What I learned today at Techie Youth was how important it is to practice your craft. Now as a music producer, I obviously already knew how important practice was in order to become great at what I do. However, this week I got to see how practice makes progress from a new and different perspective. I got to see how practice makes you better in a way that doesn’t affect me. This whole week, I’ve been learning about the process of making a cover track, and you can see the artist progress day by day as he creates a different cover track every day. Now even though he did well on the first day of doing the cover track, it doesn’t compare at all to how well he did on the last day of doing a cover track. On the first day, the artist was still learning the basics and was a bit slower on making the track, but on the last day, the artist made the track so easily and it sounded way better. This was because of PRACTICE. The artist started on Monday and continued to make cover tracks all the way up till Friday and went through the process of getting better at his craft through practice. The lesson I learned here is that while some people may be born with certain skills and talents, nothing compares to putting in work in order to enhance those skills and talents. The only way to get better at what you do is through practice.

'Accessibility to Remote Work'

'Accessibility to Remote Work'

Jedi Batista

What I learned today at Techie Youth was how accessible being a music producer, or a general worker, is in today’s climate. Ever since 2020, the way of working has changed forever, but maybe for the better. People now have the option to make millions of dollars in the comfort of their home, or anywhere around the world. The company that you work for can be located in the UK, while you live in the United States. As a music producer, this is a huge advantage because not everybody has access to leave the country due to financial situations, but due to the uprise of working remotely, there are producers and artists who can curate whole albums while being millions of miles apart, across the world from each other. This change also works extremely well for parents who stay at home in order to raise their kids. While their kids are at school learning, the parents can work from home and make money. Remote work is all about accessibility, and while 2020 may have not been the best year for a lot of people, the rise of remote work and learning was definitely a positive change.

'Music & Passion'

'Music & Passion'

Jedi Batista

What I learned today at techie youth is how music is so much more than sound, and songs that people hear on a daily basis. Especially to the artists that create the music, music is their form of expression, and their way of saying how they feel. For example, music producer, Timbaland, said “If I can’t talk verbally to you, my music can”. Every song that Timbaland produces is personal because it’s HIS way of expressing himself. Music is the soundtrack to our lives, and artists and producers create everything they make with a personal connection and feeling. We love music because of the way it makes us feel when we listen to it, no matter what genre. Another thing I learned today at techie youth is the amount of accessibility that people have nowadays when it comes to creating music.

You can create something as simple as an 8 bar loop on an app downloaded onto your phone. You don’t even need the best or most expensive equipment in order to make a full length album. You can create high quality music from the comfort of your home with something as simple as a laptop, headphones, and a recording mic. The level of your equipment does not determine the quality of your music. There are artists who have created some of their best work with the cheapest equipment. For example, Grammy winning artist, J. Cole wrote and recorded most of his first 3 mixtapes from a shared apartment while he was in his 20’s, and now he’s a record breaking artist with a large number of fans who love J. Cole for those SAME SONGS that he recorded in his apartment in his 20’s. Music is all about passion and having the love for what you do. Sometimes you’re not always going to make your best music, but the beauty of being an artist is that because you love what you do, it’ll always find a way back to you. Even if the passion is not there.

'Music Production & Networking' Pt.1

'Music Production & Networking' Pt.1

Jedi Batista

What I learned today in techie youth is how to make money as a music producer, and how important it is to connect with other artists within your field of work. As a music producer, you instantly become just as much of an artist as a rapper or singer. While you may not be laying down vocals or singing lyrics on your beats, you are just involved as the artist you are working with who IS rapping or singing on your beats. With your beats, you’ve curated a sound that the artist you are working with loves so much that they wanted to tell their story over YOUR beat. 99% of the time there is no song without the beat. Producers are one of, if not, the most important part of the music industry because they construct the overall sound that not only the artists who work with them love, but also the sound that the audience loves. Today, I also learned how important it was to connect and work with different artists to get your name out there and more well known. Not only does working with working with different artist give you recognition as a music producer, but it also shows your versatility depending on the vast number of artists that you work with. Working with different artists also teaches you how to network and communicate with different people within the industry. If you know how to communicate with different music industry officials then these said officials will take you more serious since you know what you’re talking about. Being a music producer myself, I know that there is a lot that is going against me, but I know that if I learn to network, step out of my comfort zone and work with other artists, I can be great in this industry.

'Why Video Editors Are Important'

Jedi Batista

'Why Video Editors Are Important'

Today in Techie Youth I learned about how important video editors are to all industries in today’s modern day. There are so many different jobs when it comes to video editing, from animation, to sound design, VFX artists, music video editing, and many more. I also learned that video editors get paid a large amount of money because of how important they are in today’s work climate. Nearly every video you see on Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, and any other social media platform is an edited video. Every movie that has EVER come out has been edited. Every TV show that you have seen has been touched by the powerful kind of a video editor. Editors are the ones who clean up the project, and make the project go from okay to AMAZING. For example, VFX artists spend countless of hours working on movies and shows, to make all the characters, places, and creatures come to life. Without video editors, ALL industries would be in shambles, and the qualities of the projects and products that they produce would be extremely low. Now even though, Video Editors are an important part of a lot of industries and companies today, they don’t always get the credit or attention they deserve. Some editors are forced to work long and crucial hours, and get paid so little. Working these long hours then makes the the quality of the project that they’re working on go down tremendously. We as a people need to give credit where it’s due, show more love to video editors since they are the ones that make all of these industries and companies look good.

'Social Media and Business'

Jedi Batista

'Social Media and Business'

Today in Techie Youth, I learned how to make money from Instagram. I’ve always thought of social media and Instagram as an easy way to connect with people, and not really as a way of making money. Yes, I knew that Instagram can be used as a way to grow a business, but making ACTUAL money off of the app seemed crazy to me. One way of making a crazy amount of money off of social media is a theme page. A theme page is an entire social media page that’s dedicated to one topic and audience. For example, there are theme pages for things such as cars, memes, music, film, and much more. These pages make so much money off of constantly posting pictures from these themes and topics. These pages can gain millions of followers and the way that these pages make the most money is through posting ads on their pages stories, and overall engagement. The more views that these posts from the pages get, the more money they will receive. The money from ads, is just a bonus, and an extra way of making money off of these pages. Now even though running a theme page may sound easy, growing it is what takes some time. Just like everything else in life, nothing comes easy, and success never happens over night. (At least it RARELY does). Your theme page may take some time to grow, but as long as you stay consistent, and stay posting, you’ll definitely reach high levels of success. Some of these pages become so successful, that the owners of these pages hire others to run the page, while making tons of money. Just by learning about theme pages today, I’m already coming up with ideas on how I can run my personal page similarly to a theme page in order to gain a lot of traction and followers. If I constantly post and work with other pages, I can grow my page even more and reach new levels of success that I could’ve never imagined before. All it takes is consistency and time, and just like anything else in life, I can get to where I want to be.

'Personal Budgets and Discipline'

Jedi Batista

'Personal Budgets and Discipline'

Today at Techie Youth I learned what it means to have a Personal Budget. When chasing dreams and achieving certain goals, it’s good to know your limits on what you can spend or buy. The definition of a personal budget is a summary that compares and tracks your income and expenses for a defined period. This budget helps you plan out how much you spend or save within a certain month or period of time. It’s basically an easy way of tracking what you can buy or spend money on, and how it will affect you within a specific time frame. For example, if you are trying to have a personal budget for the month of July, you would need to track and take not of all the money you spent every day in July, but also the amount of money that you saved within the month of July. Personal Budgets are a great way of taking note on how much your salary affects your spending habits, and daily life.

Today at Techie Youth, I learned how important self discipline is when it comes to making money. When you make a lot of money, you may be tempted to buy things that are unnecessary, when really you should spend money on things that are more valuable, and that will help you in the long run. Whether it’s investing in certain businesses or companies, or maybe it’s something that will actually help you with your health and overall livelihood. I’m not saying that it’s bad to spend money on the things you want, or on personal needs, but there needs to be a balance of you buying the things that you want, and the things that you need, ESPECIALLY when you are young.

Art Business

Jedi Batista

'Art Business'

What I learned today at Techie Youth is that when you’re an artist on social media, you have to present yourself as a business man with lots of personality. While yes, you should be professional when selling products, when you’re an artist it’s good to display your personality while selling the product. I also learned that when it comes to promoting yourself as an artist, it’s important to think about the way you are speaking to your audience, a.k.a. Your followers. If you are constantly telling people to buy one of your products, in this case artwork, photos, music, etc. they won’t buy it because you are constantly telling them that they should buy it. You have to be subtle with the way that you are selling your product. One factor that can make a huge difference is if instead of telling people to buy whatever you are selling, you can give people the information to what you sell, and how they can purchase it. At the end of the day, you would still be promoting your product, but you also won’t come off as annoying to your target audience since you’re not constantly telling them to buy your product. Description also plays a very important role in selling a product. I learned that you really want to catch the viewers attention, and the best way to do this is by being creative with the way that you are describing your product. You should describe your product in a way that makes the viewer or listener feel like they NEED the product more than anything else in the moment that you’re selling it. The moment that you choose to sell your art and try to make a living off of your art, you are no longer just an artist. You are now BOTH an Artist and Entrepreneur.

Business and Entrepreneurship

Jedi Batista

'Business and Entrepreneurship'

What I learned today at Techie Youth is what it means to be an Entrepreneur. Truly, anybody can become an Entrepreneur as long as you have one of the three simple factors. A market pull, a passion, and a technology pull. Firstly, a market pull is an idea that you would want to turn into a product or business opportunity. Next, a passion is mainly an issue that you have noticed in other business and companies that you would want to build on and fix for the future of business as a whole. Finally, a technology pull is when you have a technological product that you would want to turn into a product that is beneficial to people. I learned that these are the main three factors that you would need in order to become an Entrepreneur. Today at Techie Youth I also learned what it takes to build and run a business. According to Elon Musk, in order to have a successful business, you have to work every waking moment. He then said “think about this. If one person works 50 hours, while you work 100 hours, you’ll be going at 2 times the rate of the other person. It’s all about how much work you put into your job. You should also love what you are doing because if you love what you do for work, it will never actually feel like you’re working. I feel like I learned so much today in terms of Business and Entrepreneurship. I learned how important it is to talk with a certain tone when presenting an idea to a new buyer and or investor. I learned how important it is to present yourself as a person who wants more for themselves in the field of work and business, and I even learned more about public speaking when presenting these ideas to larger audiences. Not only do these tips work when it comes to business and Entrepreneurship, but these tips can also help you with presenting yourself in the real world.

How To Be A Leader

All my life, I have wanted to live freely, and make all of the different type of decisions that I wanted to make. I’ve always wanted to work for myself, not take orders from anybody, and make my own money. Especially since, what I want to do when I grow up is be a music producer, this requires a lot of Independence. Today in techie youth, I learned what it means to be a leader. In order to be a leader, you must take initiative and take risks that make others respect and trust you. Taking risks can lead you to many different opportunities that you never would have gotten if you stayed stuck in the same position. These opportunities can help you achieve your goals and take you to wherever you want to be in life. Another thing that I have learned from Techie Youth today is that there is so much more out there in the world today, than the simple hometown that you live in. There’s so much more to experience and take in, and you can experience a whole different side of life that you would have never experienced before without taking risks. In order to grow as a person you must place yourself in positions that feel uncomfortable, and this is apart of taking risks and being a leader because you are doing something that no regular person would do. You are changing for yourself, and you are also changing for the better.
