Matthew Roy - Learned Today (8/8/2022)
Today markes exactly one month since I begun Techie Youth, and i have learned so much throughout this program and thankful to be in it! Im sure these notes will be good ways to look back onto what I did.
This is what I learned today at techie youth as of 8/8/2022.
- Found out different places where you can 3D print designs in person such as MakerSpace NYC.
- Started to learn the basics of Inkscape and how to design logos in it, and even send that design in to be laser printed. In addition to inkscape, I also learned how to do this using AutoCAD.
Also I had to rewatch the Illustrator tutorial, because when I saw the illustrator section in another unit, it is shown as incomplete. I got the checkmark next to it, but now the usage says that I have been inactive for over 3 hours, when I clearly was not. I was just watching the video... so hopefully that does not cause any confustion.

Matthew Roy Learned Today - 8/5/2022
Before I say what I learned from the lessons, I would say a general thing I learned while using techie youth is to not change tabs while watching a long video, or else it will say that you ended the video too early, and no credit is given for you watching. This happened while watching the 3 hour adobe illustrator tutorial, and the reason I changed tabs was to click the "Yes I am still here" button on techie youth to show that I am still watching the video. Even though the usage page says that I watched the tutorial for an hour and spent the other hour on the techie youth home page I was really watching the video the full ways through.
This is what I have learned at Techie Youth today as of 8/5/2022.
- Learned how having a 3D printer can be used to print other peoples designs and ship it to the client for cash using platforms like makexyz.com.
- Watched the entirety of the Adobe Illustrator for Beginners course, the main takeaway being how adobe illustrator works, capabilities, and also how the vector designes can be scaled easily, and is also great for branding.
- Learned about laser design services which ships laser cuttings for products.

I do not like how expensive the program is, mainly due to me being a beginner and not a professional engineer thus blender's free and open source code philosophy makes me more inclined to learn about that more than autocad or meshmixer.
