Today at techie youth I learned some sales strategies like the foot in the door. It is A tactic where someone asks a small request in hopes the person they’re asking will agree to a larger request later on. An example is Person 1 (child) asks person 2 (parent) if they can go to their friend's house to hang out. And that thats not all which is When someone offers a small task or price and then adds onto it with better deals or lowers it more to persuade.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned how to invest in stocks. The first thing to consider is how to start investing in stocks. Some investors choose to buy individual stocks, while others take a less active approach. Then you decide how much money you're willing to invest. Then determine the type of brokerage account you need. For most people who are just trying to learn stock market investing, this means choosing between a standard brokerage account and an individual retirement account. Then eventually you do research and choose your stocks to invest in
Today at Techie Youth, I learned how to plan a Database. First, you have to determine the purpose of your database and then find and organize the information required for it. You can do so by dividing the information into tables and charts. Then you have to turn information items into columns and specify the primary keys. Then you have to Set up the table relationships and refine your design
Today at Techie Youth, I learned how to start coding. First, you must figure out which coding language you want to learn. Then you have to take online courses and watch video tutorials like the one I did today. You can also read books and ebooks about coding. Use tools that make learning to code easier. You can also check out how other people code and maybe have a mentor to teach you or take a class about coding. You can practice by doing some coding projects.
Today at Techie Youth I learned how to format a professional resume. I realized I didn't update my resume since high school and decided to improve it. I had removed old job experience and updated it with more recent ones. I also added margin lines to divide the groups into categories, and it also made it look neater. I also had my full address before and realized it wasn't safe so I only now have my town and zipcode instead. I also added new skills I had learned from newer jobs
I stay motivated during repetitive tasks by changing my work environment from time to time; for instance, if I don't feel like being indoors, I'll sit on my balcony and do my work. I also set deadlines for everything on my calendar and planner; this way, I can keep track of everything. Lastly, I remind myself it's okay to take breaks to let my mind rest before returning to work. During my 30-minute breaks, I'll usually walk on the treadmill or eat lunch.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned about Grammarly. It is an extension that is used as a writing assistant. Meaning, that it corrects your spelling mistakes and punctuation errors and replaces your words with a better vocabulary. This makes sure your writing is clear and easy to understand and read. This is perfect for schoolwork, emails, and professional writing. I use Grammarly for my school papers, and it has helped a lot. It improves my writing and fixes the small mistakes I would've missed. There is also a premium which you have to pay however it provides more features like plagiarism check. If your field is in the writing I would suggest this feature because it can be a great help to many.
Today at Techie Youth, I watched the Adobe Illustrator tutorial, which offers tips to improve your workflow and help you get the most from Adobe's industry-standard vector art program. Whether you want to design a simple icon or complex illustrations, the more techniques and shortcuts you're familiar with, the quicker you'll be able to achieve the results that you're after. I already had some knowledge in adobe illustrator, but I learned a lot more valuable information today. It's a great tool that I can see myself using more in the future for fun or business.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned how to make money by selling courses online. There is a website called Udemy where you can offer services like data science, marketing, and more. People can then buy your course. An idea I had to sell a course would be beginners photoshopping. I know how to use software like adobe and picsart so I could sell cheap courses for beginners that want to learn photoshop. I think this is a great way to educate others and also make an income on the side. I also wonder if workout guides would be considered a course because I've made a couple of nutrition and fitness guides myself.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned you can make an earning from graphic designing. Whether you're freelancing or working under a company, there are various paths you can go with. While you can do graphic designs by hand. Another great way is to do it online with specific software. You can take a course or watch youtube videos like I did to learn the basic steps. Eventually, you'll learn and get the hang of it and can do stuff like posters, advertisements, magazine covers and many more. If you're a creative and artsy person I think graphic designing is a great career.
Today at Techie Youth I learned the importance of making connections. It is important to have a good social and network circle. This will allow you to have greater opportunities in the future. Especially if you're applying to jobs. Having a reliable social circle also keeps your mental health good as you have people you can trust and spend time with. It is important to socialize and engage in conversation therefore human interaction is important. You can start making connections from a very young age but during college, it is important to get close to your peers and mentors. Because after college you may need recommendations in the real world. Next semester I will work on making better connections with my professors.
Today at techie youth I learned how you can make a profit by selling your art online. You first have to make yourself and your work is known which you can do for free with social media. Nowadays a lot of creates have gotten famous from apps like TikTok. I learned that there are multiple websites like Etsy, Society6, Turningart, and many more. You don't necessarily have to be selling paintings or drawings. On sites like Society6, you can even sell tote bags, pillowcases, curtains, etc. Meanwhile, on Etsy, you can sell crafts, jewelry, and even homemade skin care. Art comes in so many forms, you can provide freelancing work like photography or baking. I enjoy arts and crafts and often find myself trying new things. Sometimes I'll get into jewelry making or making essential oils. One thing I love is baking, I've always thought about selling my baked goods once I get even better so now it is definitely something I will consider. On a website like Shopify, you can sell just about anything because you can personalize it to your liking and make it your website.
Today I learned the importance of Linkedin. It is a professional social networking website that allows you to build and engage your network. You can post your previous work experience and your resume on your profile. You can also post your skills and write a summary about yourself for recruiters and jobs to see. Moreover, you are able to search and apply to all types of positions on Linkedin by simply searching for job postings in your area. I created my Linkedin profile and updated it because I never really used it before. However, after learning about all the benefits Linkedin has to offer I decided to dedicate more time to building my profile. I will do so by connecting with more people and applying to more jobs and as well as fixing up my profile more to make it look more professional.
Today at techie youth I learned different ways to have an income while traveling. First, you can get seasonal work at the place you're visiting for instance you can work at a hotel or local restaurant. Sometimes they will also provide you with a place to live in. Another way is working remotely. When you're working online all you really need is a laptop and good internet. There are various types of remote jobs you can do that will allow you to travel out of the country. You can work with a company like a data entry job or even do freelancing with websites like skillshare where people can your services. However you can also work for a company that makes you travel, for example, you might have to travel to make brochures or travel guides. If you're a good writer, this is a good position. I can definitely see myself doing remote work while traveling infact, this would be my dream job as I aspire to travel. I think traveling for work is a great opportunity. I also aspire to travel while in school like a study abroad program.
Today at Techie Youth I learned how to use Wix which allows you to make your own HTML website or mobile site. There are a bunch of free templates and you can make your own web domain using Wix. However, there are other price options that allow you to advertisements, and logos and use the various apps they offer. I've tried using the website while watching the tutorial and used a free template. I think Wix is a great way for new business owners to run their site. I got to change the color and images in the template and then add frames and quotes. As someone who isn't very tech-savvy, I can see myself using Wix if I were to ever run a business. Something I've been considering is selling workout guides and nutrition guides because I'm really interested in fitness and food.
Today at techie youth I learned some important strategies to start a business. The videos I watched said to not jump right into the business without a strategy or plan. He also mentioned going into the business with partners. However, you must make sure you pick a reliable partner that also has the knowledge and experience to help you build your business. If not, it is more likely to fail. Moreover, he also mentioned that you should always tell people about your business ideas to get feedback. Especially people you trust and know can give you valuable advice. Moreover, before jumping into a plan, you first need to do tons of research on the product, how much you'll have to invest, the market, and many more. After all of that, you can finally write out a business plan.
Today at Techie Youth, I learned that to be a successful enterpriser you should work on leadership skills. For instance, if I were to start my own business, I would need to be a good leader first. To be a good leader, you have to be self-aware and ethical-minded. You have to be honest and learn to take feedback as there is always room to improve. Moreover, Encourage and help others to grow as well. I also learned that you need to connect with your team members, which I agree with. If you truly care and get to know your team personally, this will build a stronger relationship and possibly motivate them to work harder. I believe I carry some strong leadership skills as I am always eager to help and listen to others. I believe this is a good trait to have because your employers will treat you with the same respect you show them. Moving on, one of the videos I watched also mentioned appearing presentable. He joked about having good breath and hygiene. This is true; you want to show up at your job looking excellent and tidy. This will not only keep you feeling confident but will also allow others to take you more seriously. When I worked at an office job before, I always tried my best to look presentable and my previous boss appreciated it. Overall I've learned what it takes to be a good leader and how to become a good leader.
