I read about the importance of implementing Google Analytics into websites. Analytical tools help gauge every aspect of your website including how many visitors you have, how much time they spend on pages, etc. This is vital when identifying what is working on your website and what to make edits to. Google Analytics is one of the most popular, reliable, and accurate tools to use.
I learned a lot about Wordpress, which is a website designing website from scratch. Being that I've used Wix and Google Sites before, I found it interesting to see the technicalities and breakdowns of this platform. Since every little aspect is user-created, I think the final result of the website really shows the user's creative license and style.
I continued to learn about web development. I think it's interesting to see how each and every little component of a website plays a big role. For example, I never realized what HTTPS does. We see these terms everyday but I now know what they do.
Today I made edits to my niche website and resubmitted. Then I started on the web development unit. I've been making websites for many other projects and I've been using website-creating softwares but I find actual web development from scratch to be a lot more complex.
I'm putting the finishing touches on my niche informational website and I'm proud of all the work I put into it. I love customizing everything to how I want it to look and I love how organized the information is. I look forward to submitting it.

I think there should be a lot of thought behind what topic to make a niche website about because if a theme is too broad or too specific, it won't attract viewers and/or consistent references. The best topic to pick is one that is specific enough that people will want to learn more about.
I finished my product design for my own idea, Techie Sibs Letters. I think the idea would be good for Techie Youth because it can really connect the participants. After drafting all of the information onto Google Docs, I moved on to the Niche website unit. I started learning about what niche is defined as and how using a website can make a niche profitable.
Today I read about the communication aspect of product development. Keeping in touch with your customers helps to create an emotional aspect with your buyers, which also helps sell your product easier. Many customers buy goods based on their personal use and connection with the product and creating an image that includes that emotional aspect will help reel in more buyers.
I learned more about the product development process when creating a new good or service. I think it is interesting to see how a product can change in that process. I think a good way to gauge your progress is to see how your final product has changed from the MVP, as it shows what improvements you have made to it for it to perform best.
I started learning about product managers and product development as a whole, which ties into the selling services unit I had completed before. It is easy to forget how much thought goes into the research and testing aspect of trying products and I found it interesting to see how much work product managers put into perfecting their goods for their consumers.
Today I revisited the Selling Services unit and created a portfolio on Google Sites for my creative writing pieces. I found the Google Sites platform easy to maneuver and I liked how it turned out. Then, I read about selling old goods, which was interesting. It not only helps get rid of things that you no longer need and reel in some money but it also gives a new life to items before they go to waste.
I continued to read about earning extra income and I learned about freelance editing. I like the idea of freelancing because it gives you the flexibility of offering your own specialties and working on your own schedule. Freelance editing is interesting to me because the idea of becoming an editor has crossed my mind since I liked to read/edit my classmates' works. As a general statement, I think freelancing in any type of service would be an interesting path to pursue.
Today I decided to look into earning extra income from home. I read more about how websites like SurveyJunkie and Swagbucks offer money for completing surveys, reviewing services, and other similar tasks. This is a practical option for those who need income immediately for time-sensitive matters. It is also a good choice for anyone who is interested in earning a few extra dollars on the side. The tasks that offer these small payments are relatively simple and it makes it easy for anyone to use.
The most interesting thing I learned today was web designing. Similar to what I learned yesterday, a big role in attracting customers is the visual appearance and appeal. I’ve used photoshop in the past before and have used the color wheel to pick the best images for projects in school. I enjoy the creativity and how it goes a long way in keeping customers engaged with the website’s interface.
I learned about the different types of advertising. As a consumer, it is easy to not think about the efforts put into ads or commercials when in reality, companies have to strategically craft their ads in order to reel in their customers. I think this is pretty interesting and I was left thinking about what is it about commercials that convince me to look into their products.
Today I finished my blog post about Techie Youth to complete the Writing unit. After doing a deeper dive into the website, I learned a lot about Techie Youth's mission and actions to help youth at-risk. I compiled all of the information into a Google Docs and I enjoyed breaking down the different aspects to make my writing organized.
I read about transcription jobs in the writing industry, which I forgot would fall into this category. I am used to thinking about original writing compositions but find transcription a unique job. I found the typing test fun and realized how big of a role transcribers play when writing captions or transcripts of videos. I also think about how vital they are in court when they have to dictate everything said. It is one of those jobs that are easily overlooked or forgotten but have a large influence on others.
Similar to this type of post, I learned about blogging as a form of writing style. I think blogging is particularly interesting to me because it allows a lot of flexibility with your own personal style. Blogs are accommodating to a lot of different purposes like reviews, personal journaling, and more, allowing the writer to contribute only what they want and see as fit for their profile.
I finished my executive summary for my company Generation Bridge and I am proud of how it turned out. After browsing the other units, I started the writing unit. I learned how the style and content of magazines and journals differenciate and I began learning about authoring as well. It is interesting to learn in-depth how many different styles of writing there are and how they all serve a different purpose.
Today I finished learning the basics of building a business and started to create my own business idea. I am in the process of working on an executive summary for my business and I find it interesting to be in this hypothetical situation because it feels like it is real. I feel like I have control over every aspect of my business - like a true business owner.
I watched videos about the importance of branding for a business. I like branding because it involved creativity, which gives me a range of what I want to draw up for something that is mine. I was intrigued by Wix because I have made a website on Wix before and it was interesting and very rewarding at the end.

Tuesday, Jul. 12th, 2022: I continued to learn more about starting a business. A big thing I learned today was the importance of having a plan. Starting a business is all about organization and being prepared and making an executive plan can help organize all the components neatly. I also learned about the importance of being flexible, as it is more than likely your first business idea will not become successful.
I finished learning about how to improve my quality of life in the health aspect, which was very interesting. I learned about the importance of sleep and mental health, which is a big priority for me. I also learned how a mentor can help me improve my career path and offer insight on the right steps to take.
At Techie Youth, I learned about time management skills and how to use them combined with productivity skills to ensure I am getting the most out of each day. Even though I am a pretty good worker, I still learned new tips and methods for becoming better. I also started reading about the importance of my health which includes exercising and eating clean foods. I am looking forward to learning more about this topic tomorrow.
Today I learned about how to use Zoom in a professional setting. This includes attire and setup of what is visible in your camera frame. I also learned about Zoom etiquette regarding its interface. Finally, I learned about scams and how to identify situations to stay away from.
Today, I started my summer job at Techie Youth. I learned about all the benefits and opportunities that remote jobs offer and how to take advantage of them. I also learned about the basic principles of jobs such as methods of pay and application documents/files (ex. resumé, cover letters, Linkedin, etc.).
