I forgot to do this yesterday, so this will be a bit of a 2-in-1. Yesterday I completed the entrepreneurship Unit, worked on some of my quizzes, and fixed some of my assessments. I also began the Artificial Intelligence unit. Today I finished the Artificial intelligence Unit and began the Data Entry unit which is really interesting to me so far! I really enjoy doing data entry and sorting things online. This will be my last day of Techie youth most likely since SYEP{ is over today, but I definitely enjoyed and will recommend it to people I know.
Once again, today during Techie Youth E Learn, I spent the day working and watching videos on cryptocurrency. Though I have not fully finished, tomorrow if I feel that I cant completely wrap it up by the time my hours are up I will work on fixing the quizzes. But today I looked at different stock options and thought about which would be best and most useful for me.
Today during techie youth I tried to finish up the crypto unit but unfortunately did not. I did however finish reviewing forex, which will hopefully allow me to complete the remainder of the units tomorrow so I can begin correcting the things that need to be changed with both my final assessments and my quizzes.
Today during Techie Youth, I had a great time learning about forex and continuing to go through the cryptocurrency side unit. It was interesting, but admittedly not the most fun unit I've done. Starting next week, I will be fixing the quizzes that I didn't do necessarily well on and improving my final assessments.
Today during techie youth, I spent basically the whole day reviewing the cryptocurrency unit. I enjoyed this because that was one that I enjoyed when I first looked at it a few weeks ago. I've always wanted to get into crypto but I never really knew how or had the time.
My favorite thing that I did during techie youth today was reviewing the getting paid section, I feel like when I first did it, it was soooo long ago, so now it was nice to get a little refresher and remember the things that may have slipped my mind the first time I read the articles and watched the videos.
Today during Techie Youth I watched a LOT of videos. My favorite part was watching the films about managing teams, specifically the ones about firing people. I really do not like confrontation, so I really needed tips because If I am ever in a position where I will need to fire someone, I know how to do it confidently and professionally.
My favorite thing that I learned about today during Techie Youth was branding. My mom always talks about how your brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room. It's very true and I love seeing interesting and new ways to show off my skills and information.
Today at techie youth, my favorite thing that I learned about was choosing a partner to work with when creating a business. When I first think of who I would want as a partner the first thought would probably be a best friend, but thinking realistically, you need to think of all of the things they will do. Sure they're good to be around, but will they be reliable and help you in the ways that you need when creating this company.
Today at Techie youth, I continued working on the entrepreneurship branch. I watched a lot of videos about the highs and lows of starting a company and growing a business. I also watched some videos of successful entrepreneurs giving a day in the life and explaining how they became successful and how they were able to grow.
Today I finished off my fundraising course. I had a really good time making my fundraising for the final project because I chose youth incarceration as my topic, and I know a lot of my friends who have been affected by this topic. I want to do something good in the world to help them and I honestly think suggesting techie youth to them would be an amazing idea because it would allow them to have a job in which they can get paid and also learn skills while keeping themselves safe from gang violence and the streets in general. After I finished fundraising, I began working on the entrepreneurship branch because I realized that I had skipped over it while I was looking at the graduation requirements. I had a really good time today
Today at Techie Youth, I spent the day continuing to work my way through the fundraising branch. I learned about how to advertise your fundraisers from hosting online events to having people give their time and doing email chains in order to get a widespread amount of recognition for your cause.
Today at Techie Youth I worked more on the fundraising branch. I learned about some of the important does and don't regarding how to get money from the people or companies that you are relying on. One example is that you should use real and emotional stories in order to persuade the person to want to help out. I liked today's, it was pretty laid back just a lot of reading and watching videos!
Today at Techie Youth, I spent the first bit of my day making a website to show off my virtual assistant abilities. This one was really fun and I used Wix in order to make the site. Then I watched a video on WordPress because I wanted to see how it would have worked if I made a site there instead. I then started the fundraising branch and began watching videos and reading articles about how to start a fundraiser and how to write a compelling letter. Kowing that will help you be able to persuade people into supporting the cause that you are raising money for.
Today in Techie Youth, I finished up the content for the virtual assistants course. I finished the e-commerce section and went on to review the WordPress section, which took up the bulk of what I did today. I did I think one or two quizzes, and I went over where to find work and looked at all of the websites that hire virtual assistants, though some of them did not work. Overall a chill and really informative day that I enjoyed.
Today at techie youth I watched a lot of videos. First I completed the social media area of the virtual assistant course. After that, I went on o the literacy branch and I had so much fun with that one. One of the games was to do a quiz to see if you could correlate British words to their American equivalent and that was really really fun since I tend to watch a lot of British content creators on tik tok and youtube so I already knew some of the slang. Another fun thing was the proofreading test. In school I absolutely love proofreading. Before my friends submit their essays and assignments they will usually send them to me or show Them to me so that I can proofread and make sure the words flow right because they tend to have trouble with that. Overall this course today was really fun.
Today doing my techie youth e-learn course, I worked more on the virtual assistant path. I started off by doing a prescription test, it was really really fun because I love writing and I had to do typing classes in middle school for my tech class. So it was kind of like a throwback for me. When I did the test it took me a lot longer to type everything out than I had originally expected, but it was still cool. Then once I finished I looked at my results and I had made like 22 mistakes, I had no idea because I had gone back to proofread before submitting it, yet I still messed it up. For the rest of the time, I watched videos and read articles about the google suite programs like sheets, docs, and drive. Then u began looking at more stuff with social media like making business accounts and stuff like that. I learned how to write a professional email, and though that Is something I go over in my school, it's nice to hear slightly different tips that will help me be taken seriously and look professional in the real world once I'm done with high school.
Today at techie youth I started off by finishing up the courses on the selling digital goods branch. I looked at some stuff about how to use and advertise on Twitter, finishing up where I had left off on Friday. Once I finished that, I did my quiz then I went to do the final assignment. I spent a very long time looking for what I was going to sell/ do. Unfortunately, not a single website that I went to sell my goods on allowed someone under the age of 18 to sell. So I decided that I would take a break from that final assessment and that I'll come back to it another day. After that, I began looking at the virtual assistant path. I watched a few videos about travel and hotels and read articles about what it takes to become a virtual assistant. I am quite excited about this path because I like helping people out as well as doing work online such as filing, making phone calls, and other things of that nature so I am definitely eager to continue working on this path to see if it is truly something I would enjoy doing.
During my techie youth E learn course, I learned about advertising on many platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I am familiar with all of these platforms and use Instagram and Twitter frequently, so it was nice to see that I can make revenue using so many different things that I am learning in this course. I also learned about how to use hashtags on Instagram effectively. I think this would be useful not only on the Instagram setting but on all social media platforms including Twitter and maybe even tik tok. During one point in my work, A friend called me while I was reading one of the articles about advertising your products via Twitter, and she found it super helpful and interesting because she owns a small business and she had recently been looking for a way to promote her work online and on social media. I told her all about the things that I've been learning about and she was eager to do more research to see which of the options I told her would work best for her product and business model.
Today I learned about digital goods. I watched a lot of videos and read articles about NFTs and Cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin and bitcoin. Cryptocurrency provides a way of saving money which many people think is the future of finances and money, but the market fluctuates frequently so it is not very reliable. I also learned about patenting and copyright, and how many creators make a living off of copyrighting their images and then go after people who use the image without permission as their main source of income. I personally think that it's wrong to bait people like that just for their money, but I also understand that people shouldn't take people's property. I also looked at trading intangibles, like TOPPS virtual trading cards. I was really interested in the Magic! The Gathering section because I learned how to play magic last summer at a summer camp with my friend and it is such a fun and complex game, so it would be really cool to be able to earn actual money just by playing a game that I genuinely enjoy. I definitely enjoyed today's lesson, and tomorrow I will begin working on looking at something about Facebook ads. I began looking at it at the end of my time working today.
Today I completed the providing services course. I uploaded one of my paintings to redbubble, and I created a website to use as a portfolio of my work. It was really fun and I like to show off what I have learned in techie youth compiled with what I like doing in my free time, as I said in the previous entry
Today was day 3 of my Techie Youth summer course. Yesterday I completed my prerequisite courses and today I finally began my elective courses. I began with video editing because it is something that I am interested in and that I have some experience with from both middle and high school. So far I have looked at different editing platforms as well as watched videos from editing professionals, learning the dos and don'ts of the industry. I enjoy watching and creating movies because it brings me so much joy and satisfaction to be able to make an idea in my head turn into something tangible that I can watch whenever I want. And having the ability to look back at my storyboard and then look at the sequences that I am working on while editing is an amazing feeling. I really enjoyed today's course because it allowed me to focus on something I genuinely enjoy learning about while also learning new things about the same subject.
