Today was all about the fundamentals of e-commerce. I learned the differences between using pre-built platforms to sell products such as Etsy and eBay compared to using your own website using tools such as Shopify to power them. Building your own website is harder than one might initially think. Using platforms like Squarespace or Wix to build a website makes the process easier but there are still many factors to consider. The website has to be functional, easy to use and navigate, but also has to play into the aesthetic features that your customers will be attracted to.
While working remotely has always seemed like the most convenient and best working condition for me due to my introverted personality and my dislike for group projects, Techie Youth brought up some good points on the opposite side. Working from home means that both work and home are now mixed with no clear line between the two. There's also the lack of socialization when you work from home that you would normally get from working in a traditional office. The blurry line between working times could cause you to work earlier and later, as well as an impaired sense of time for things such as lunch or breaks. These are all things to consider and to keep in mind as you work remotely, but I still believe that working remotely will continue to be in my best interests.
